Gaining a new perspective

I have had some time away from my son as I have posted before. Sometime with my animals and me and work. In that time that I had I got alot of time to reflect on me. Which has been a real eye opening experiance for me. I have worked on all my relationships with my family.

I have even been working on my relationship with my A. He has come back and has been staying with me for a few weeks. Soon as he arrived he was out looking for a job and got one. I was really suprised by that because in the past when he was unemployed it took a month or two atleast to find employment. I told him how proud of him and of his effort. I don't know if it is because I have changed but I have noticed a change in him as well. We decided that it was best to give it a try without the kids around. A chance to get to know each other better one on one. We have always had kids since he and I had meet. So he and I never really had that alone time together. I told him I wanted to start making new memories because I didn't like alot of the old ones I had. He agreed. So that is what I have been doing this month.

Tuesday Night my son came home from his dad's. I didn't tell him he was here because I wanted to try and make sure I was living one day at a time and try not to project to the future. My son's look was priceless when he saw him. We sat down with my son and talked to him about his thoughts and his feelings on him being here. He said he was ok with this. But to make sure I talked to him before I went to work the next day after my A went to work. He said he was really happy about it. I told him to be honest and not to hold back his feelings. He said mom I really do. They are so fun to watch. I was working last night there is a pond by my job I got to watch the two of them fish from my window. Just watching the look on there faces as they reeled the fish in was one I will keep in my memory vault forever. They caught 6 bass last night. They told me if this keeps up we are going to have one heck of a fish fry this weekend. Yummy

I am trying to take the day as it comes I am a little nervous about tomorrow. He receives his first pay check. I know I am stronger mentally, but I am still nervous about how I will react if he relapses. Because I haven't had to deal with it face to face since I have been in the program. So tonight say a special prayer for me for strength.

Thanks for your support!

Here are some things that have helped me since in the program.

  • Go face to face meeting & online meeting.

  • post on the board here on the site. I have gotten a lot of good feed back.

·        In this program u learn that u have choices. In Alanon we don’t give advice but only suggestions.

·        Set support system.  people do not judge. You need someone who can go for coffee on a bad day, or pick up a phone and call when in trouble. The support is what is important when you first this program.

  • Have a sponsor. Someone work one on one with you.

You don’t have to do this the minute u come to the program but I suggest that u do it when u can. It help.

Meeting schedule: meetings are in here and run approximately 90 minutes from: Monday-Friday, 9 am and 9 pm EST, Saturday: 10 am and 9 pm EST, Sunday: 10 am and 7 pm EST. Topics are selected by participants at meeting time. UK +5 hours, central -1 hour, mountain -2 hours, pacific -3 hours. Open chat all other times.
