hate the smell

Hi Friends

I absolutely HATE the smell of alcohol from his body as he sleeps in bed next to me.  There I said it.

Good for you! I too hate the smell, the snoring, the sweating, and the stealing of the covers. Now I sleep in a different room if he drinks...sweet dreams!

I don't even like the smell of a liquor store when walking past it sometimes !  So I can relate.  It just triggers negative stuff !

OMG! Me too. I HATE IT. When I smell that smell even on a homeless guy or anywhere now, it gives me a total flashback. It used to make me want to cry just to smell beer on someones breath.

The smell makes me so ANGRY.

The worst was when he would go to the hospital for alcohol poisoning. Whatever they give them in that IV combined with the booze smell. OMG! For like 4 days.

Thanks for posting that. Good to know Im not alone.

Elizabeth,

You are not alone. I think it is one of the foulest smells there is. Along with the smell of pot. People say that stuff smells sweet, but I don't know why.

While an Active Alcoholic, 17 years ago, who drank til the moon disappeared (because I couldn't hold my head up high enough to see it) I often woke up to find myself smoothering in a Baby Power... all over me and the bed.

I thought my lady was doing this because she had nothin' but love for me and wanted to baby me...

Today I realize it was because I was darn funky smellin'

Yours In Recovery,

John

Tell me about it!

PPPPPPPPPUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!

My husband has smelled SO bad that the horrible smell has actually woken me up from a sound sleep, I felt like it was burning my nasal passages.  He has stunk so bad that he smelled up the whole house, I doulbt even a jar full of cologne would have helped that smell.

The way they smell right after they have drunk is bad enough, like having an open bottle of rubbing alcohol under your nose...but...that really icky, nasty, naseuas smell they have after a few hours (a by product of the digestion of the alchol) is really noxious.  EEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW!

I tried to point this out to my normally fastidiously clean husband, and he said "All you smell is your bad attitude".  SIGH!

I think if I could somehow bottle that stench up and make him smell it when he is sober one day it might even cause him to want recovery.  They can't smell it...just like the garlic eater can't smell themselves either, their noses become immune to the stench.

Isabela

As my A husband quit drinking and just as the smell started to fade he kicked up his tobacco chewing (JUST ANOTHER ADDICTION) and now his breath reeks from accross the room. Not to mention the mess all around the sink, now that I'm not there to clean up his messes.

I love the smell of my apartment!!!!!!!!!!! (chocolate and popcorn!)

I also am hyper-senitive to the alcohol smell while out in public and it always makes me do a double take to see who the smell is coming from!

Maybe we should stock up on Fabreeze!

Yup - I cannot stand the stench either. Not only from the drinking but my husband is also a smoker. Yuck yuck

When he's in my car I need to open the windows even in the winter. Our son & I keep our jackets in a separate closet.
