major painting next week

Finally hired a painter to paint our main floor - kitchen, dining/living, den, 2 bathrooms and husbands bedroom. We moved into this house in 1993. The walls were primed white but never never painted! Ive finally come to the realization that the only way it will ever happen is for me to pay for it out of my retirement funds and Im finally in the mindset that its okay. So husbands bedroom & bath will be 2 shades of blue. Front room (where I hang out - computer, read) will be 2 shades of greenish blue and living/dining and kitchen 2 shades of tan. I have Alot of cleaning to be done before the painting starts on Tues. She'll be here for 7 working days. Ive been thinking of taking down shelving, getting new cabinets, etc. I paid for a renovation in 1995 (added on 2 upstairs bedrooms and 3rd bathroom) but never changed cabinets, etc. Its finally time! Wish us luck! Any advice on how to keep my cool while my house is taken apart to be put back together?

Hi Barbara!

Good for you!!!! The colors sound great!

I have been working on my house slowly for a few years now...the most major being relocating the kitchen in my house to a different place....this took about 6 months and was pretty inconvient..lol...

I keep my focus on how good it was gonna look when it was done to keep from going bonkers during the worst of it!!!

I am excited for you!!!

David

Congrats on the painting happening, nothing changes a room like a coat of paint.

As for the keeping your cool, try this perspective.

I plan on living until I am at least 80 years old.  That's 29,200 days.  So what's seven days out of that really?????

I am so happy that you are focusing on you and the things that will make you happy. I know you have been wanting things done that you could not do on your own.

Good for you!!! That is really taking care of self.
