Chapter 3 or 4

My A is back to meetings and having a sponsor for the 3rd or 4th time.  I have no expectations for the future as Betty taught me:  an expectation is a resentment waiting to happen.  I don't feel happy or joyful about this but I will try hard to appreciate any efforts for AA recovery that are made.  Here's were focusing on myself is a valuable tool.  I'm in a committed relationship with alanon--15 years and still going.  I can be happy and experience about joy about many things.  I've learned not to allow my peace and serenity to depend upon anyone.

My son and his family don't think they are going to the family Thanksgiving.  Both of my brothers have serious illnesses, but that doesn't change the choice of my son and his family.  And what can I do? I expressed my feelings and I'm moving on.  I will enjoy the extended family even if my son can't.  He loves me--he tells me all the time, and I will always love him.

So onward and upward my friends.  Let's keep putting one foot in front of the other, ODAT.

"an expectation is a resentment waiting to happen." this came up at a recent face-to-face meeting from one of CALs daily readers.

It's very apt, especially so in your case.

Keep strong and Let It Begin With Me
