typical day at Eden

Well after going clear out to the toolyboons with my Brownijoy , my chocolatelab/rottie pup, to pick up two NIgerian goats.. don't ask, the day was getting fuller. They had too many goats. Were wonderfully taken care of, but the gal did not smile once. Seemed like life was a chore for her or something?

Before I forget, I got all the wood out of the van, ricks boxes of cloths, feed and stuff  so I could go get the goats...tired already.

Got two huge bales of straw and a tiny bit of feed. Brown dog is so cool. She hops on the crates with goats inside then hops on the straw. She does not leave the van. She learns so fast. But omg she wants to love everyone and everyone to love her.

We got home, threw on my ugliest grey gym shorts and a denim top that is a 100 years old and back outside we went. Got a nice cattle panel fence up for the goats, cleaned that little barn out, filled it with straw. They are totally freaked at first. Nora is white and black like a cow, with pretty fawn colored ears, Delilah is like a fawn in the back, fawn color with white spots, then the cape is black and fawn. Cutest face. Both have cute faces.

Then immediately got curious and were fine. Sorta huddled around me. That was cool. I have so so much to munch, gads endless. I am going to do some kind of moving fence and put them in the south pasture.
I love seeing their beautiful colors.

After working sooo hard to get Rubi, Rudi pot bellies, and all to the pig condo area.... Rubi swam and mucked threw the pond to get out and Rudi stood around and was miserable. I gave up. heck with it. I will just enlarge the little barn. I cannot have anyone unhappy here. lol
So I shut them in with the goats. Valeegoat is in there too becuz she has the hoovy problem again. That poor girl, she is so sensitive to the wet. And she has a zillion ways to get out of it too. I am serious about seeing about making her some goat rubber boots. Silly girl. She is my pygora.

Tried to get Bobpiggypot  to stay in the condo area too, but he took his long black bod and snouty nose and headed back to the big barn...So I give up, Hogi is up there too. Might as well let Rubi and Rudi back up there too.

Fixed the panels that Pixiefarm pig  tore up a while back. Cut the bad off with my next favorite tool, my well what are they? They cut thru cattle panel? Things that will cut off locks? Anyway pounded posts in with my "post hole driver" is that right Stephen. He is my friend in La, very handsome southern man....he keeps me in line.  Anyway whew then I am cleaning Chiefs area which is MY bunkroom. I think geez Chief your hooves are bad, I look up and there is Clint, the theraputic horse hoove guy driving by...I completely forgot.

So I go to let him in, meanwhile Chief decides to go UP the mountain. Plus I have already grained him. He played catch me if you can for a couple minutes then I threw a rock at him. NOT REALLY!! Ha ha. he came up to me, got his hackamore on and down we went.

Clint is an excellent horse guy. VERY cute too. very married. He knows Peg and Mike too. Anyway he told me about Chiefs hooves and said they looked great for a 31 year old horse. Made me feel good cuz I have done his hooves for  years.

Of course Chief stood like an angel. But then he is. I swear he hides wings under his skin somewhere. I told Clint about him and he said he doubts I will find another one like him. I have been spoiled.
When I say you could have a picnic under him, I mean it. I told him I sat crosslegged under him and did his hooves...

So as beautiful as I was, mud all over my legs, rubber boots, old cloths hair insane, he had to leave me...sigh. We talked a long time. Was nice. fourty bucks. Left me twenty left for the month. I hope the rental rents soon, geez. i never worry, never.
We have always been taken care of at Eden.
Property manager is friendly but stern. I liked her. Very business like. I kept saying I am burned out, this is as good as it gets. I am going to hang curtain rods. She said I better or they will put nails in my walls.

Well here is Lovebug cat on me now pushing my fingers. I have no idea how he got in. Anyway Stinker cat and Sparkycat had a great time stalking the new goats. OH and Elsa the great  cat too. The goats did not know cats would think of them as prey. They were.not impressed. ever tryu to tyupoe wiht a vcat bumping you. geez/

ok then I emptied all the disgusting water containers. When I have a migraine, nothing can get done but I throw out food and check on them. So I was so behind. Anyway Browni went behind me as I    filled them, all to make sure they met with her swimming approval.

Got some of the addition to the barn cleaned out. Ready to burn it. Gotta get it all  empty and decide what to do. I really want it to be a llama area. they love it in there. Soon they will be shut off from the barn yard. I want my garden and more flowers there.

oops just threw Lovebug down on top of Sebastian cat. ..oops.

Well it is like 4 now, I am so tired if I stop I will fall asleep. The new straw I am stuffing into all the pig houses is looking reeeeeeal good for a nap.

But here comes Patty with the rescued old girl. She and an older gentlemen, backed to the gate. She has a perfect setup. A cart that roles down these ramps. open crate, pig hops out. They got her to her new house by Augie and Hillary. the back of it was knocked out from the SueSue. thank goodness i did not fix it yet. Anyway this old girl looks a lot like Luster. Massively too fat. Her shoulders are huge. LONG huge mane, beautiful tail but otherwise no hair. Poor girl. Ate dogfood.

I guess the place she was at was awful. lived under a board in a chicken coup with no bedding. Patty and helper had to climb thru briars to get to her. shaking head.

Anyway we had a nice visit. Patty wanted to see Luster, she rescued him too. He has turned into a handsome pot. well I cannot find him! then I think please NO. He the butthead, has gotten into the cats room and rearranged the furniture...rrrr ate all the food in the lower bowls,,, shaking head, cat food is horribley expensive I spend the most on their feed.

anyway he came out. Patty says, "OH Luster, do you remember me?!" Well true to form he nashed his teeth and wanted to bite her. lol lol giggle. I come over and he melts. I love him. so neat to have this beast love you. She did not stay long...

Off they went after visiting with Estersue who came down for the vistor rule, always bring snacks for Estersue. Patty was so funny,"can i touch her tummy? can I touch her tail? lol lol Ester is the sweetest thing. But to others she does look scarey.
Estersue and I walked down to the gate and waved by....

Anyhooo the new pig climbed right into the house with augs and hilly and that was ok for a bit. Next thing I know I look out  hear screaming, new pig is running well waddleing out and plops into the mucky burn pile. cringe.
I got her up and led her to the house I had ready in the first place. Full of nice dry straw and new afgans for her. Bowl of whole wheat bread watered and juiced and an apple. LOTs of clean water. Tarp for shade and it is fenced in.

She immediately starts tearin up the pillows to her liking. (c: I can't help it. She told me her name, it is Penelope. Penelopig, Princess Penelopig. I have NO idea where it came from. I am sure a middle name will come. They usually do. She is very pissed off for lack of a better explanation. I don't usually say that word. She is crabby and probably does not feel so hot. She has been thru so much after being totally ignored for 12 years, not even named. Princess is from Janice.

I go in and talk and she is ok. If I lay down she tell me to get the H out of there. Well!!!  It is ok. Sorta a princess and the pea is how I think of her. She has wanted things to be different all her life. Everything has hurt her. Nothing was ever right. Never loved, never pampered. Never ate much cept dog food. LIved in chicken poop.

Should have had Patty bring some hens...

So our lady is here, asleep in her new bed. She did get up and root the one dirt corner...(c: clean dirt, no poop, no decay, no glass or junk to cut her snouter.
She does resemble Luster too.

What a full day. The mud is really awful. The rain never ends. I guess I will have to rent a tractor and have mac and I do it. I won't be abe to afford excavation now. Thats ok things always work out. IF I have to shovel a ditch again I will. But i have to vent. The mud really gets me down. I slip and get stuck. My boots rubbed blisters on me so I went barefoot when I put Estersues fence back up. Then I tried my garden shoes but they are stupid. I slip out of them. Finally I put on some tennis shoes and that was ok.

But I tell ya, it makes everything, everything harder.

Plus not only did I get behind outside.. inside... geez.Flat top surfaces were ok. But the floors omg. Right now I have straw on it becuz I just walked thru to get it to the back. So I get to sweep and mop today...clean the guinea pigs house, clean the chickers cage, they need to be outside, but I don't trust the dang cats yet. They are more then half grown. But not yet. I don't want to lose my girls. They will be in the big barn. I am making them their own closed in area with nests and stuff. They will have a little door in. Llamas keep the naughty creatures out.

So I better get on my blistered feet and get busy. It is eight forty five and I am ready for a nap with Luster. But the dogs are hungry and the deck pigs. Well they are all hungry. I have stopped feeding the outside pigs so much. There is so so much seeded grasses out there and plantain, and dandilion. Wish guinea pigs could be free out there. Wouldn't that be fun to have a herd of them running around the yard?

The dogs would love it so thats a no.

So this is Eden. Busy, happy, full of love, thru it all we all keep smiling. love you's, debilyn

Well Debilyn just sounds like you had a lazy day to me.  lol.  Have you ever thought of getting an old bus and taking people on a tour around your property?  When I went away on holidays in January we went to this farm really clapped out bus a beautiful old farmer in his 70's he was charging $10 a tour.  He had llamas, emus, ostriches, horses, deer, camel and buffalo.  It was the best ten dollars I ever spent.  The camels had their heads in the bus one on my lap, deer were in the window we could get out and pat the llamas and I have to say that was the best part of my holiday.  It would bring in an income for you and I reckon you would be a perfect host.  Really loved this post.  ((()) Leo xxx

Whew, deb!  Sounds like a full day to me!  Don't forget to feed yourself!!!!

You are an angel for taking care of all those previously unwanted, unloved animals.

I just love to read your stories about Eden.  Do you keep a journal, or have you ever considered writing a book about your experiences there?  Well, you should!

I think what leo said about the bus is a great idea!  I would imagine grownups would love that.  And can you imagine what a little school age kid would think???  Wonder how many of them would grow up in the animal care field, after going to a field trip to your Eden?  That would be cool.

Well I'm gonna go drag my tired feet out to my garden of 4 tomato plants, 3 pepper plants, and a dill plant and pull some weeds!

Love in Recovery,

Becky1

Oh gracious!  I'm exhausted just reading all you've done!

How wonderful that these babies have a loving place to call home!!!

I'm out in the middle of almost nowhere and would love it if there were a place like Eden to take my boys to....

Hope you got some rest and hope the blisters are better!  *ouch*

Deb - thanks for sharing your part of Eden. Sounds like fun

This past Sat my 14yr son & I went to a Bunny Rescue. Besides bunnies she had cows, roosters, emus, chickens, turkeys, cat, dog, horses, goats. She takes in all the abandoned animals it seems.

My son & I are having alot of fun taking care of the 2 bunnies we adopted - Tina and Turbo.
