What are we being shown now that wasn't there before? Like a crowned, round thing that rose like the sun, the enigma of a Higher Power is revealed to us in the midst of our emerging awareness, a Higher Power who wraps newcomers and recovering fellows alike in the warmth of a merciful embrace. So let the recovery journey begin, and let it begin with me.
What will become of you and me after our spiritual awakening? And who will we be when the circumstances around us have changed?
We will never become cherubs, nor will we be always counted among the righteous. But we will see ourselves with new eyes. We will define ourselves afresh, this time in the presence of hope and the willingness to readily surrender to a Power greater than ourselves. We will no longer question or devalue any life choice we'll make. And we will allow ourselves to be washed and cleansed and restored over and over again so that we may be as milky as snow every time. And let it begin with me.

Welcome Franchia A. It's always great to have new folks post. The way I see "Let it begin with me" is that for years I expected my alcoholic to change. What I quickly learned in alanon is that I had become sick too, and am unable to change others. But I could begin to change myself. I became healthier, less judgemental, had improved self-esteem, and my coping skills greatly improved. Now my spouse has two years in AA. It's still a long haul, but I let it begin with me, the only person I can change. Progress not perfection.
Welcome to you Franchia A from me as well and I will add to what Lyne said in response to your post that along with my ability to let the change begin with me that I also discovered
that I must mind my own business and take good care of myself, which I never did before Al-Anon.
