C2C, 1/15, why leap into the future?

This page reminds us about the importance of staying in the here and now.  Worry about the future can give us depression, distraction, and fear.  Does worrying in advance help, or will it be easier to face?  Does it protect us?  The answer to all of these questions is NO!  It merely robs us of today:  ODAT is a very important slogan.  The future is not today's problem.

Quote:  Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow; it only saps today of its strength.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Before alanon, I used to worry about the past and the future.  I was never calm or at peace.  I received a notice in the mail yesterday that my car has a part recalled, but they have to manufacture the parts and they may not be ready until the spring.  So if I hear a strange noise coming from my engine, I'm to pull over immediately and have the car towed.  Prior to recovery, l would have worried about this every time I drove somewhere.  I refuse to worry about this for the next six months, which by the way my car may be fine until the part comes in.  This is the new me, alanon me, giving me a better quality of life.  :)

Thanks Lyne for today's C2C and your share. I especially like the quote at the end of this reading. "Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow; it only saps today of its strength." Such a great reminder about giving my power away to negative projections. Sometimes Keep It Simple is the best slogan for me when I begin to worry. I also remind myself that there is a loving hp taking care of me and others have theirs taking care of them. As far as my own affairs, working the Al-anon steps really has helped with identifying feelings and taking actions that help me. I do tend to worry so I may do some the footwork related to what is concerning me. If it puts my mind at ease it's worth my time. Unlike years ago, this doesn't mean putting a thousand and one guardrails in place. It's typically something straightforward. One simple action is prayer. Then it's best to just  let go and trust my future is in the safe hands of higher power. It may take some repeating but I find that works pretty well for me most times.
