C2C, Monday, 1/8, Let go and let HP

This reading discusses acceptance of the acknowledgement that we cannot have control over others--that we are truly powerless.  The writer realized that the alcoholic must have their own HP, and it is up to them to work out their future.  Letting go and letting God allows us to feel like a new person.  We can give up the constant need to watch and direct others, and focus on our own life.  We can gain a sense of freedom.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I'm not sure I understood how to do this for several years.  After keeping watch over my A, scrutinizing, directing, getting frustrated, etc., when I finally turned it over, I did had a sense of freedom.  All the wasted energy was now given to me and my own recovery.  And life has gotten much better in many ways.  We just have to be willing to try.

Thanks Lyne for the reading. Agree, there certainly is a sense of freedom when I choose to let go and return my focus to my own affairs. I can use Al-anon's 4 Ms if tempted to try to control another person. Mothering? Manipulating? Managing? Martyrdom? These continue to be a great guide for checking my motive. When I attend to my own recovery, I endless things to keep me busy :)

Happy 2024. What a pleasant surprise to discover this site is still alive. It provided a path to peace regardless of my circumstances. I felt guilty that I did not contribute by leading a daily due to fear. Instead of admitting barriers, I pulled away. Anyways, thank you for making my day and reminder that solution is in the Alanon program. ((HUGS))
