Gratitude, etc.

Greetings, all. I haven't been here for a bit. I got distracted. I was at a virtual meeting last night in Hawaii, another 12 step fellowship, and they had asked me to close the meeting with a reading and with a prayer of my choice. I did the AA third step prayer. This morning, I remembered that I hadn't been here for a while. When I opened he main page, up in the right hand corner was the third step prayer. That's a coincidence right. It couldn't possibly be my higher power showing up at just the right time with just the right information to let me know he's still here, waiting for me to get back to what I'm supposed to be doing. So, here I am.

I am retired now. For good this time. I had been working in a transition house for men in recovery but I'm 67 now and I'm too old to be running up and down stairs. I tried retirement at 65 but like the old godfather movie, just when you think you're out they pulls you back in. So, I went back for a year.It was long enough. I managed to help a few of them.I have always been grateful for the opportunity to give back, to be of service.

And, I am grateful this site is still here. I think I might be drifting from what I started out to say so it's time to stop talking and start listening. Everyone have a great day unless you have other plans.

Hi Wolfie. The official site of MIP I believe has closed down due to lack of financial support. All the people doing the dailies eventually all pulled out, and finally it was just Paul and myself. No one responded to our service anymore, and no one was posting. Because I haven't erased everything on MIP, I can still come in. But when I try from my google search, nothing comes up. It's a huge loss to me as I got my alanon start here 12 years ago, and had Betty as my sponsor for 7 years, until she died. I guess what's certain about life is change. Out of habit I'm still checking in daily, but you are the first person to share in quite awhile.

I'm glad you are enjoying retirement, me too! I go to a zoom alanon meeting weekly, and reddit has an alanon site which I occasionally respond on. It's nothing like MIP, that's for sure. I wish you well ODAT, Lyne

One thing we can do is keep posting. In my other life (AA) I learned that if everybody thinks someone else is making the coffee, the coffee won't get made. I didn't get my start here but I been here awhile and its time I started coming here again. and you're right TT. I do a lot more service now that I'm retired, service inside and outside the rooms, giving back to the community I took so much from in the past. I remember Betty, hotrod, She and I were facebook friends for a bit. I go to an online Al-anon in my city. They went to zoom during covid and have opted to stay on zoom because if they go back to in-person, a lot of their members won't be able to come because of the distance. So I get one alanon fix a week. Also, shhhh, I'll say this in a hushed voice. I'm still in AA. I celebrate this month. 26 years. And speaking of celebrations my wife Nancy aka peilady and myself will celebrate 24 years of marriage on New Years Eve. She tells me that she still likes me so I must be doing something right. Maybe it's my cheesecake.

I will try to come here regularly. I hope some of you will also. And there are other ways to keep in touch. You can message my profile I think that still works. Anyway, stay beautiful. Bye for now.

I'm checking in daily so I'm here too! I don't understand how MIP can stay online without funds, but we are still online. It appears that folks still read what's written, but almost everyone stopped responding to the dailies, nor sharing with their own posts. It's rather confusing to me. Wolfie, I like your positive attitude! Peace.

In another fellowship that I am in, it says you only need two drunks and a pot of coffee for a meeting. In here, I guess you only need two people who know a drunk and a pot of coffee. I have a pot of coffee on. Maybe the website is paid for the remainder of the year, I don't know when the rent is due. Is the website free? Could you move miracles in progress to a website that is free. I don't know all the ins and outs. I do know that I host meetings on Zoom and each meeting has a webpage (on facebook) where the members can stay in touch in between meetings, but the setup here looks a lot different. I guess this website is already here so we should keep coming here until it's not here. It's a good thing John did, starting this place. Anyway, I'm meeting a guy I sponsor, on Zoom, so I gotta slip slide glide and divide.
