C2C, Monday, 6/19, Always carry a QTip

When we are troubled by another person's behavior, a complicated situation, or a difficult turn of events, alanon says that we do not have to take it personally.  We don't have to be victims, we can accept what we cannot change, and change the things we can.  We can also change our attitude which will allow us to evaluate things realistically, and move forward in a positive manner.

Quote:  God asks no man whether he will accept life.  That is not the choice.  You must take it.  The only choice is how.

My first sponsor Betty taught me to always carry a QTip:  quit taking it personally.  Easier said than done!  This did take a number of years of practice.  Most of the time I can pause and think.  With luck I can obtain that realistic view mentioned above, and then decide what attitude is best suited to the problem.  I have learned in this program that attitude is everything, and with practice I can have some control over myself.  This is a huge and beneficial gift from alanon.  And don't forget, progress not perfection.!

Hi Lyne!! Thank you so much for your Monday service and today's reading and ESH.

Love QTIP because it actually keeps me centered and I too took a long time to master this mindset as well.

I am able to, like you, pause first in order to get perspective. I like that I have a method that helps me to

set my thoughts in place before reacting and in most cases reaction(s) are not necessary.

Thank you Lyne for Qtip tip. It's a tangible reminder to pause before (over) reacting. I often took it personally when people were tardy or paid more attention to their cell phones during F2F interactions. I can use less energy fuming and focus on quieting my disturbance. As always, the shares offer a positive attitude adjustment and open up new perspectives.
