The writer describes how to get a grip on our thinking to lighten the load. If we have a heavy, somber view, can we try and remember that it may not be so bad after all? Can we try and look for fun, fantasy, absurdity, or silliness? Can we seek out the things that add gaiety to balance out the solemn and troubling things? If we can enjoy humorous moments, it can be a constructive way to detach from daily difficulties. We can try to reject anxiety which prevents us from seeing the lighter side of life.

I was such a Sally sad sack for many years. It was hard to laugh, have fun, and/or relax. Since program I have found a side of my personality that loves to laugh and have fun. I'm in a lighter mood much more of the time. I find humor in things I never would have seen before alanon. There is a tree in the back of my condo with a broken branch. It looks exactly like a duck's head. I just love it and took a picture of it. Years ago, I never even would have noticed it. Life is different, and better. Grateful member. :)
