C2C for April 28, 2023 Learning From Our Fears

In today's C2C the author remembers how afraid they were to speak up in meetings.

As time went on they learned that there were many other individuals who were relating

the same feelings that they possessed.  Slowly, after talking one on one with some of

those individuals the author discovered that their greatest fears were slowly turned into

their greatest strengths and they were able to emerge from their shell and share freely

during meetings.

Todays reminder:  "Anything and everything about me can be used for my good."

"If I feel insecure or frightened today, I will remember that my fear is a signal that there

is something for me to learn."

Todays Quote:  "It may not be the answer I want, but I have to remember that it may

be what I need." ~ As We Understand

My greatest fear was that I would find myself out on the street, because that is what the

alcoholic in my life would threaten me with.  I slowly learned in Al-Anon, how to handle those

threats and to gain the confidence in knowing that I have options and plans in place if ever I

find that would happen to me.  Actually, I now cannot be threatened anymore because they

have no right to throw me out at all!!!  I learned that my greatest fear is now my greatest

strength and you know what?  . That alcoholic doesnt threaten me anymore because they

can see that it doesnt scare me anymore.  I will not give up my power to live as happy a

life that I deserve and want.  {{HUGS}}

What have you learned, in Al-Anon, that your greatest fear is now your greatest strength?

Thanks Debbie for your service and insightful share. Growing up and into adulthood I was afraid of everything. It was a very painful existence. I did make myself do things I was scared of, and although I could accomplish things, it took a huge emotional toll. With alanon, I seem to have a newfound strength. I still have fears pop up, but my interactions with people are from a place that I'm in charge of me. Remember, I resigned from the doormat club, thanks to HP and all of you. :)
