C2C, Monday, 3/13, shortcomings

The member takes a new approach to Step 7--instead of being tearful or too intense, the member suggests looking at shortcomings with a sense of humor.  Can we not laugh at ourselves, and stop taking ourselves so seriously?  Real change can come with a belly laugh.  If we can move out of our own way, we make room for our Higher Power.

Oh that was me--serious, intense, and I couldn't find humor in anything I did or didn't do.  It was such an unpleasant way to go through life.  That misery followed me long into adulthood.  Things began to change when I was blessed with a granddaughter--she began to teach me how to laugh, especially at myself.  And program came shortly after her birth, and it's been such a life changing experience.  I have given up being so serious and so intense.  I've been able to see humor in many things about myself.  It's such a relief. Grateful member always.  :)

Thank you Lyne for your service, today's reading and wonderful ESH.

I do so agree that lightening up on most issues gives me a better sense of how not serious

everything really is! I always was the type of person that when something needed attention

it had to be taken care of immediately. I learned in Al-Anon how to slow it down and have a

bit of humor about all those issues that really were not so important. I am speaking about

just the daily occurrences and regular normal things that we all encounter all day. I would

push myself to get everything done and addressed and stress at the same time!! Al-Anon

has taught me so much about me and how to deal with just so many things besides dealing

with the 'A' in my life.

Good afternoon

I needed this reading today as I sit here with my neck all in tight knots and my back aching just from constant tension. There's nothing right in this moment to be so uptight about so I wish I could just allow myself to lighten up,relax and live a little.

I guess I can if I just choose to,even for a few minutes.

Have a good day
