The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Todays reading is kind of neat, it is a listing of all the things we think we have to take care of but, Al-Anon suggests that we do have choices and that not everything is our responsibility.
"I dont have to understand everything." "Some things are not my business, and others will simply never make sense to me."
"I dont have to be reluctant to show my feelings, when Im happy, I can give in to it!" "When Im not, I can turn to my Al-Anon friends who help me to grow through the tough times."
"I dont have to feel threatened by the future, I take life one day at a time."
"I dont have to feel guilty about the past." "With the help of the Steps, especially Eight and Nine, I can make amends and learn from the mistakes I have made."
"I dont have to feel alone, I can go to a meeting, or pick up the phone there is always somebody to reach out to in Al-Anon."
"I dont have to take responsibility for other peoples choices." "The have their own Higher Power to help them make their decisions."
"I dont have to give up on my hopes and dreams my Higher Power is not limited by my lack of imagination."
This reading is so self explanatory!!!
I do struggle with #1 and #3, but am always a work in progress.
I must accept that there are some things in life that defy explanation and must learn to move on and I do worry needlessly
about the future and can always use the reminder to live ODAT.J

This is a good, easy listing to refer back to! I am currently working on #4 and #6. Four in relation to my Ex, and 6 as it can refer to my son. But perhaps my favorite is #7! "My Higher Power is not limited by my lack of imagination!"
Hope everyone enjoys their FriYAY! TGIF!

Thanks Debbie for you service and above ESH. #3 is a challenge for me related to aging and how the body changes. But I keep in mind step 1 and ODAT . I have a choice to be miserable from worry or enjoy the rest of my life. I choose enjoy!
