level.
The writer was waiting for the perfect partner, and they waited and waited. No one showed up. Then in an alanon meeting, they learned about gratitude, and everything changed. They were able to see how many wonderful things already existed. They had been brushing all the love they were receiving aside, while waiting for that one imaginary person. The reminder suggests we acknowledge what we already have. The quote says if we could say but one prayer only in our lifetime, "thank you" would suffice.

I was waiting to learn how to fix my A so my relationship could be perfect. That "perfect" solution never happened, lol. I must admit that gratitude is one of the life-altering lessons that I have learned. I'm grateful for seeing a beautiful fall leaf, watching my dog's head tilt at an unknown sound, and many other things that bring me to a state of contentment. I was missing how easy joy can be. Grateful member always.
Thank you Lyne for your service and all shares. One of 2022's word of the year is: permacrisis. The word sums up the state I was in before Al-Anon. One day at a time, the program has brought clarity and as a result,
I live in gratitude. It's been a humbling process recognizing how blind I was to how blessed I am...Thank You
If we could say but one prayer only in our lifetime, "thank you" would suffice.
I find this deeply comforting tonight.
I've been away from this online space, and my local meeting for a long time - there was a lot of good busy stuff in my life, I had a period of stability - and (of course) I've dipped into a period of increased stress . . . AND look at me showing up right where I knew I could find ESH when I needed it!
I'm beyond grateful
And my heart is singing "Thank You!"
