Todays C2C topic is about fear and disappointment and that in order to live a life that does not revolve around constant fear instead

learn to "put acceptance to work."  The authors sponsor suggested that having a "Plan A and/or Plan B" would ease the anxiety of

living in fear that the alcoholic in their life would let them down.

Reminder:  "I no longer have to depend on any one person or situation in order to get on with my day."  "Today I have choices."

Quote:  "Consider the little mouse, how sagacious an animal it is which never entrusts his life to one hole only."  ~  Plautus

I am so impressed with Al-Anon and all the clarity that I have acquired.  Having those Plan A/Bs have provided me with such

peace of mind over the years and those plans have changed, evolved and some have actually disappeared (no need for them anymore).

Relying on my self first and foremost, when I need to get anything done, has definitely saved my sanity for sure.

There is no doubt that it has not always been smooth sailing, but for the most part, when the alcoholic in my life lets me down, I have

no problem proceeding on my own.

Have you found that having Plan A/Bs has helped you move ahead regardless of how the alcoholic responds or doesn't respond to original plans?

Thank you Debbie for your service and ESH. I think the plan I try to carry all the time is to have no expectations. And that gives me the opportunity to practice acceptance on a daily basis. I guess if I can do these two things, I have already made a plan for myself. I no longer need others to "make my day." When others are included in my day, that's wonderful, but not necessary anymore for my health and well-being. Let go and let God. :)

RE:

Good Day Everyone. Thanks for your service Debbie and all ESH. I have always enjoyed my own company (maybe a little too much) and preferred doing things alone. I loved living alone and was comfortable/preferred shopping, traveling, etc alone. Including others was a foreign concept to me :). In my marriage the biggest hurdle has been finding ways to be inclusive without sacrificing my needs. Al-Anon has taught me to live/share with others- I guess that is my Plan B. lol
