Courage to Change November 2

Hello MIP!

In today's reading from courage to change the author reflects on step two. Step 2 is we came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

The author shares that their own journey toward a higher power was very gradual and that they themselves had been unaware of much of it. There was no sudden realization no burst of light they just found a gradual clearing of the fog. At first the author went to meetings bringing their body if not their faith. Eventually the author started to believe that they weren't alone in the universe and that there was something else out there. There was something that could offer assistance if asked.

Today's reminder: the arrival of faith in my life has been a gradual process. This process continues and grows stronger each day I keep myself open to it. Perhaps acknowledging this process will help me when I am impatient with the twists and turns of life.

Today's quote: I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving. Oliver Wendell Holmes

-------------

like the author, my own path toward my relationship with my higher power was a gradual one. As a queer person, I found that so much harm had been done to me over the years in the name of a Christian God that I could not find my way to a higher power through the religion and faith of my youth. It took me some time to find another way to my higher power and it took me a lot of time to sift through the readings in Alanon to internally translate for myself from a more Christian based faith to a more general belief in a higher power. I am grateful for my belief that my higher power is a lot smarter than I am and that my higher power is fully capable of offering many different paths of connection. I have always believed that each religion is a different path to a higher power, and so the way that I connect with my higher power does not need to be the same as the way that others connect with their higher power.

I hope you make today a great day!

Thanks Skorpi for your service and thought provoking share. Well I had no HP until about 30 years ago. Bam, I had a spiritual experience two nights in a row which changed me forever. So I do feel lucky that I came to program 11 yrs ago with an HP in place.

We did Step 11 in my F2F zoom on this week and I shared that I have a second HP--it's alanon, which without I would be a trainwreck 24/7. I feel alanon is a program that has also changed my life in significant ways. Grateful member.

Thank you as well Skorpi for your service, today's reading and to you and Lyne for both your lovely ESH.

I too came to Al-Anon with a great sense of the presence of my HP and Al-Anon just reinforced my faith.

My faith is no doubt significant in my progress in Al-Anon.

Sending love and light to you both and to the MIP Family today.
