Natures Lessons – C2C – July 08, 2022

This days C2C reading starts off with the author talking about a childhood memory of climbing a tree and watching nesting birds

and lying of their back wondering what it would be like to "fall into the sky full of clouds".

The lesson Al-Anon suggests we see is that we can all learn from nature because the basic principle of living one day at a time can

be captured sometimes by just watching nature.  That nature does not constantly worry it just goes about "the business of living".

Todays Reminder:  "A great deal can be learned as a result of painful circumstances, but they are not my only teachers."  "I live in

a world full of wonders."  "Today I will pay attention to their gentle wisdom."

Today's Quote:  "I discovered the secret of the sea in mediation upon a dewdrop."  ~ Kahlil Gibran

I can also remember so fondly how I loved sitting in a tree in my backyard, I could see so much further, everything going on in mine

and the adjoining yards around my house.  Spent a lot time in that tree smile

Although I do not climb trees anymore smile I am still in awe of nature, how the birds, chipmunks, groundhogs, squirrels etc. just get on

with their lives and do not worry about what or where their next meal is, they just forage and have babies.

For me making do, I equate, to gratitude for what I have, not what I dont have.  Learning to see and appreciate all that is around me

and not just material things, but even the things I cannot touch.

I know that it is so difficult when we are or have experienced life changing stress and worry.  Coming to terms with the lessons I had to

learn from those experiences and moving on, for me is what Al-Anon is all about and nature sure sets a wonderful example of that!!

How do you feel about the nature analogy in this reading today and how does it affect your life?

Thanks Debbie.
We keep chickens. We just got a couple of new chicks so my "nature time" is feeding and caring for them. It's very grounding and I can't ever decide I don't feel like it today, because if I don't tend to them, they'll die. We have foxes around here so it requires constant vigilance. So my time in nature, as an adult, is a responsibility and a gift. I kind of love that.

Thanks Debbie for your service and all above ESH. I fell in love with nature about 40 years ago when I could hike in upstate NY. That gave me great respect and appreciation for all the wildlife and the woods itself--bird nests, baby animals of all types, etc. In fact I was in a relationship with an alcoholic for five years--when we were in the woods, I felt at peace.

No longer able to hike but there is still amazing plant life and wild animals all around me. One of my brother's also has chickens and bee hives. The other brother has a huge garden of fruits and vegetables. I often get to make pumpkin pie with a pumpkin he grew for Thanksgiving. It allows me to feel gratitude daily, along with my dog. I'd be so lost without nature. I just love it.

I so agree with you both TT and Lyne. The hummingbirds on the feeder daily and watching the critters in the yard

(rabbits, groundhogs, skunks, chipmunks) just amazing!!!
