C2C, Monday, 7/4, feeling accepted

The writer discusses two aspects of Tradition 3 that they cherish--they can go to a meeting anywhere in the world and know what to expect. The group will not be promoting anything else,  but should that happen, they can take what they like and leave the rest.

Secondly, the requirements for the meeting are simple--anyone who has encountered a difficulty with alcoholism in a family member or friend, is welcome.  They do not have to dress, act, feel, or work a certain way to belong.  It's a come-as-you-are program:  be yourself.

I always felt that I didn't fit in or belong.  I was uncomfortable in my own skin, let alone being in a group with a bunch of strangers.  From my very first meeting, I did feel welcome and invited to come back.  They didn't even know me!  I was in so much pain I couldn't even stand myself!  I have always appreciated this aspect of our program.  I am welcome to be there, speak, or not.  I'm accepted.  This has helped me a lot with growth and healing.
