Hope for Today May 8

Good morning everyone:

Todays reading is a focus on being aware of the present moment, and the use of the slogans to help us do that. The writer describes a meeting in which he/she shared how the life plan changed over time in recovery.  Early on, it was truly a life plan with a focus on the future.  It was a broad view, from a great distance. Over time the plan became more focused on one day at a time; rather than a future focus, a concentration on the present. Some of the slogans that helped with this concept were: one day at a time, just for today and keep it simple.  With application of the slogans, the writer could slow down a bit and be more willing to receive the possibilities in life (that the HP had waiting).

I felt overwhelmed in every way when I came to alanon.  I was surprised that I needed to be here,  I felt that so many aspects of my life were out of control, and the result was anxiety, in ample amounts and consistency. One of the aspects of the program I appreciate most is the manageablity of the readings and the concise three or four word slogans.  I remember feeling that I couldnt keep up with all that was swirling around in my brain and simple phrases: keep it simple or how important is it would help me calm down. Reading a page from one of the dailies gives a focus to the present moment and takes just a few minutes, which is important if already feeling overcome with tasks and navigating through a difficult time. The thought for the day reminds us: The slogans help make me aware of the present moment, where God and I are more likely to meet one another.

Happy Mothers Day to moms and those of us who are thinking of moms.  I hope everyone enjoys a peaceful Sunday.

Mary

Thank you so much Mary for your service and ESH!

Happy Mother's Day to you and to everyone in the MIP Family today!

Visiting with my Daughter today and spouse is buying us all Chinese food for lunch today.

It will be a dual celebration today as well, because it is my Daughter's birthday.

Today's reading reminds me of how to, while learning and using those Al-Anon tools you mentioned Mary,

not to become so easily overwhelmed. I have learned to see more clearly and quickly that everything

that occurs happens for a reason and it usually is for a good one!! Relying on my HP is a very big part

to keeping all things in perspective. {{HUGS}}

Good morning.

Happy Mother's Day!

I am glad I popped in here after a rough patch of too much thinking and worrying. Today's reading has really helped.

Have a good day everyone.
