WOW, been a long time since I have felt that kind of kindness. I really was blown away.

First thing that I have to do is get the right books. Thought I had the right ones but just found out I didn't. I got the "Newcomer Packet" so have to read threw it later. Found out about sponcership. Going to have to go a little bit and pray and meditate on it. But they were so nice and told me if I wanted I could go to dinner with them before the meetings. I am going to try to rearrange my schedule at the night job to accomidate meetings and an occasional dinner. Was a little uncomfortable for a little bit in the split from the rest of the meeting. But then it was great. They didn't do the hugs. Was a little bumped about that. Being as I come from a huggie family. Diffently will be going back and the best thing is it is right by the house. Never realized it was so close to me. Learned something about my family history too that didn't even accur to me until tonight. F2F great suggestion.

Thanks,

Angeleyes

Woohoo! (((((Angeleyes))))))

Good for you!!!! So glad you made it to a meeting....if you can make it to those dinners do it!!!! One of my groups go out for coffee and dessert after our meetings. Those meetings after the meeting are wonderful (sometimes even better than the formal meeting!)

I agree with abby on the hugs..... "Let it begin with me!"

I wish I had the same experience at my AlAnon meeting - I went to one - and that was a couple of months ago - I did not feel that I belonged there and that I was not welcomed.

I live in a very small Ohio town, I think that the ladies and one man who were there (only 5 others besides me) had just been there own little group for so long that I was the outsider. My A is an alcoholic, not using other substances, and there A's were ALL involed in drug abuse as well, except for the man, his wife was an alcoholic.

I tried to contact the AlAnon person through the substance abuse recovery center here in my small town, but they said she does not offer her personal information or phone number.  I just hoped I could speak to her and maybe get some idea of what to expect next time and feel more welcomed.

I need to pray tonight for my A...the Lord always provides me with answers when I have problems even if I get an answer I dont like.

I love my A, will love him forever, will never give up on him, and at the same time wish I could just wake up tomorrow feeling entirely differently so I dont have to live this disappointing heartbreaking stressful life.

Jen
