10/19 ODAT Don’t Fight the Windmills

Today's contributor points to the classic Don Quixote tale of errantly directed effort. Self proclaiming as a hero, he mistakes windmills for threatening giants and exhausts himself in the futile attempt to slay them.

We, too, can pick fights with imaginary, or undefeatable targets.

Reminder - Don't allow imagination to build small issues into large. Instead, let our program-guided sanity reveal the minimum level of care it should receive.

"God grant me the sense of proportion to judge the difference between an incident and a crisis." - unattributed
--------------------------
With the helpful insight of Alanon and my higher power, combined with honesty, I realize that there are very few issues that are truly worth concern. The rest are ones I've mistaken for reasons to lose my sanity, composure, or to respond to others unkindly.

I rarely need to be a hero, change other people or things, just attend to my business with a sense of contented serenity that allows me to pass that along to others...I need to remember to keep it simple.

Grateful for the reminders

Thank you Paul for your service and today's reading.

Your ESH is so poignant, especially in this atmosphere of turmoil, whether it is personal or

worldly, there is so much going on around us. It is tough to keep it all in perspective and

not take those stressors personally. Making my voice heard in a responsible way is one

way I off load and keep it simple. Personally I try to ask myself, each time a situation

arises that may stress me, is it really that important? On a worldly thought, what can I do

that can make a difference, especially if it can be done in a low key and collective manner.

I do feel that I need to make a difference in a way that when added to other's involved that

it helps all of us, which helps me as well.
