Thought I would share

I had an opportunity today, to share with AH the fact that if it hadn't been for Al-Anon over the past

eight years, that I probably would not still be with him.  He did not seem to be surprised!! smile

We have a cat that has allergies and if he sleeps on anything that is not 100% cotton he gets ear

infections.  I have an appt. tonight at 10:30pm with his vet hospital, that is all they had at 3pm

this afternoon.  Poor guy, when I touch his head he shakes it and scratches that ear.  Before the

two medical procedures I have had, I put the only non-cotton sheet in the house under my

bedspread and don't you think he found it and slept on it all week, under the bedspread no less!!

It did not even dawn on me until today when he started favoring that right ear.  AH had a fit,

he does not like it when I take that cat to the vet!!  I do not know if it is the money or the time

but he thinks that his only responsibility when it comes to this cat is to comb it, feed it and play

with it.  He thinks anything else is a major chore and I really need him to carry the cat this time

because I just had bladder surgery.  The only way I could get him to agree to come with us is

I was ready to walk out the door and ask the young guy next door to give me a hand.  He went

into a tirade, pounding his fist on the counter, accusing me of being a fanatic saying he should

have never married me.  Can you imagine!!! smile  I just smiled and said, do you know how lucky

you are that I found Al-Anon eight years ago?  He had no come back.  Wonders never cease!!

I love this share. Thank you for the example of grace and lightness. It is indeed good fortune to find recovery and it is not for the faint of heart. Sending lots of well wishes for the cat too!

(((Debb))) - I hope your kitty is good soon. I really, really fret when animals are hurting/sick since they can't tell us what's up! How lovely that you know what's going on and can get help/treatment for the kitty...

I thought I might make you feel better -- my AH has only ever fed our pets, and that's when asked. He's never washed, brushed, walked, etc. and we've had a dog our entire married life with exception to the last 1.5 years after Layla passed. The mere fact that yours will brush the cat tells me he does care in his own way!!

'Care' and 'Love' and 'Responsibility' in my home are certainly defined differently based on the person. Take good care of you and the kitty and keep us posted!!

I'd like to hold your alcoholic and pat him on the back whispering "Poor Baby"  until he gets it.  Get him a schedule for the AA meetings in your area and then Ask God for guideance to the meeting.   confuse

Debbie that was a really cool share. And I hope that Mr. Kitty can get the treatment that he needs and feel better soon. Ive got a dog thats got dermatitis on her tail and she chewed it raw so I am doing the salt water valves and putting sea salt on the wound and she is drying up but yes our pets mean a lot to us but I loved what you said to AH. In that how lucky he is that you found Al-Anon LOL I got a good giggle out of that one. I can just imagine his face. Absolutely zero come back I mean what is he gonna say to that? I love it! Thanks for giving me a smile

To continue with this saga, we went to the vets for a 10:30pm appt. and were told that there was a critical

emergency and that we would have to wait in the parking lot to possible 11:15pm. So we were given the

option to get a 10am morning appt. the next day, which I opted to do. In the mean time we had difficulty

getting into our road because it was blocked by the police doing an accident reconstruction thing. The

firefighter manning the initial blockade only needed to let us through because our driveway was right

where he was standing guard. HP works in wonderous ways!! AH was very nasty to the guy and the

firefighter immediately pointed out to him that he did not appreciate the attitude, at which time AH

quickly changed when challenged. When we were getting out of the car I told him, that he does that

all the time to me only multiple it by 3. He did not say a word! Later I went out and apologized to

the firefighter and to ask what was going on. Some poor guy on a motorcycle had an accident and

was taken to the hospital.

Prayers for the guy.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, ESH and support!!  {{HUGS}}

Debbie, what a wonderful role model you are! My A resents the changes I've made from program. I have also told my A that I would be long gone were it not for alanon.

Best wishes and hugs to you and your kitty, for a good healthy recovery from the medical stuff.

Hey Debbie, let us know how Mr. Kitty is doing. Ive got a girl here with dermatitis and her tail I had to shave her tail my poor little pitbull because she got some sort of allergy with all these pollens and the heat this is the first time this is ever happened so Im putting baking soda paste on her and giving her Benadryl and just making sure that shes got stuff to play with and keep her mind off of it I figure in a few days shell be better, I hope. I loved how you went outside and talked with the fireman. Sending you and Mr. Kitty hugs

Hey Rose!

My cat fared very well, he did not have an ear infection after close examination and a lab test of the ear canal gunk.

The vet definitely saw some irritation on the outside of his ears and gave him a short acting steriod shot so he would

be comfortable until the irritation goes away.

So happy he is not on antibiotics!

AH came with us so that I did not have to struggle to carry him in that big carrier. Normally it would not be a problem

but need to avoid lifting for at least another week. He did not complain or argue this morning, thank you HP!!

I hope that your pitbull feels better soon, allergies are so difficult and it must be even more difficult with a dog who

absolutely needs to be outside from time to time during the day. With my cat I can just make sure I keep the windows

closed (he used to love sitting on his window perch in front of the screen getting fresh air) and I make sure everything

is 100% cotton, his litter is unscented and I use Generations Sensitive laundry detergent. Have you figured out what

your dog is allergic to? Sounds like you are doing and using all the right things to help her tail. Maybe she got bit

by something?

Hey Debbie glad to see that Mr. Kitty only needed a steroid shot. I think its just allergies with my pitbull. I would almost bet because this morning I had a very bad allergy headache from being stuffed up all night last night and I think its just the pollens because my dogs dont have fleas, I couldnt see any evidence of something that bit her, I think its just allergic reaction to the pollen I dont know there again I keep the house clean so I made a paste of baking soda and water and Im rubbing out on her and I cant believe she wants to chase her ball out in this heat but if it keeps her relaxed and focused on just taking it easy and not chewing then I got to do what I Gotta do
This is the first time shes ever had this because I keep them clean of fleas . I wash them with 20 Mule team Borax in their shampoo and that is great for keeping the fleas away. I never get flea problems. I think its just the weather and the heat and the pollens because I dont feel that great lately
Thanks for asking about her and Im glad things turned out OK at the vet. Its always scary when something happens and you dont know what it is or homeopathic treatments arent working. I am grateful that my holistic stuff seems to be working on her its just going to take a bit of time
Glad that AH helped you carry him
You take care and give Mr. Kitty a pat for me

Ohhh thank you to you and your children a41, for the lovely compliment.

He has such a personable character. When I first got him he needed lots of medical help and personal attention.

For the most part, he spent all his time in a basement because he was in a house with several other cats and a dog.

He would wolf his food down and throw up a lot and hide in closets.

Now he is the opposite and loves company. I talk to him all day and he understands certain words and phrases.

He is good company!

Thank you Debbie for bringing your precious little kitty into though group here. After all the stuff of late, it is good to see something positive and bright and cheery and a sweet animal will always do that, wont they? I really enjoyed reading your post and I love the way you talk to the firemen. And it looks like Mr. Kitty has the best mom in the whole world and what a happy ending. Now he can just be the king of the castle and not have to worry about other four-legged critters who might not like him.

My pitbull I adopted when she was four months old going on. This guy found her dumped on his street I mean they literally kicked her out of the car and here she is lost and confused and so he took her to the animal shelter where I was offering to do more volunteer work and he walks in with this little brown pitbull and put her down so he could sign the surrender papers and she just walked up to me and took ownership and saw the dog officer told me that he felt she had picked me and why dont I just walk out the door with her so I finished up showing some dogs to some people and I had her on her leash with me and I just took her home.

Now shes got this skin issue with her tail Im gonna have to go get some steroid cream and rub it on her though the baking soda and water is helping she licks it off but the steroid cream she wont so Im running out of it so when the stores open up Im gonna get some tubes of it.

it was nice to see your post about your sweet little kitty and hes a cutie. Every time I look at his picture, I think of buddy who was the littermate of the kitty I was fostering who had more white on him but he did look sort of similar but boo kitty had more light on him.

I couldnt keep him because of my dogs but he was a joy to have. Isnt it nice to have the animals? They dont harass you they dont give you drama, they just give you love and joy and when they get sick, they dont get abusive and grouchy. I know I can overcome this allergy issue with her its just gonna take some time and effort

Hey Debbie thank you for the lovely wishes for my dog. I got some sea salt to do salt baths and then I got some Hydro Cortizone cream and its relief and all of that I got tubes and tubes of stuff. Shes playful and shes eating and shes going to the restroom so its just like the slogan says why worry, it most likely wont happen meaning thinking the worst.

Hows Mr. Kitty doing?

I hope hes coming along. Looking at his picture made me think about boo Kitty and how he would walk on his harness with me he loved to go for walkies on the leash with me. Anyway Im assuming that itll take a few days but she should rally and get over this. Its really weird I was outside in the yard all about when this started with her and I stepped on something in my insole and I got this big swollen bump and it is itchy and painful and Im wondering if she didnt get into something like I did and we got bitten. Anyway I hope you are having a beautiful day today
