Alanon Tradition 4.
Each group should be autonomous, except in matters affecting Alanon, or AA as a whole.
Before I arrived here, and became a member of this group- there was a move to join
Alanon in an official way. This information is base don information that heard. This move
was turned down. Th reason was related to the way the group, and groups here, collected
the Tradition 7 donations from members.
The issue hasn't been revisited again.
In my first years in Alanon I joined my sponsor's hubby, who was an AA member. We had
an Open AA meeting where were explored the Steps, Traditions, Concepts and the Warranties
of Service. We used both the Alanon and AA 12x12 green books.
This did not make me an expert of the framework of the movement.
But it did give me a certain confidence- in knowing what actual groups could and could not
do.
In Alanon there are phases and trends, coming and going- and I have seen several of these.
Groups all over the world have cultures which we would recognise everywhere.
But there are some variations- which we might put down to Tradition 4.
As far as MIP Alanon is concerned- personally I relate to the group- as a stand-alone Alanon
meeting. Don't actually expect other people to do this- but mostly I think most if us do.
If, for some reason- we came to the attention of Alanon WSO- because we use the Alanon name-
then we would have to pay attention. But is very much doubt this would ever happen.
As lock-downs are gradually lifted- sometime... people will have more access to F 2 F meetings.
I think this group has served us very well- in the meantime I hope is does thrive and prosper
post-covid, as well... ...
Each Alanon member is my teacher.
