Reflections on May 8 reading from Hope For Today...

aww Changes are strong- that Yanksfan will present us with a reading from H4Today tomorrow on Sunday. smile

But something in today's reading struck me- and i wanted to share. I I write/speak I am also strongly aware

of the reading from Courage 2 change- about the yes-buts. The what-if's, the if-only's and the yes-buts!

May-8 reading is about gravitating to the present.

I found that sharing meetings were essential for me. I felt isolated, and desperately so. And getting to meetings

whittled away at this. I find that this online meeting is as good as any too!

Hope 4 today was published in 2002. Nearly 20 years ago. In today's reading there is a pointer- that I picked up in recents years.

There is a strong pivotal paragraph about breathing! Okay- so breathing is something was surely take for granted.

But for me i struggled and struggled with Step 11. More often than not I found it impossible to meditate. I would just slumber- fall sleep... ...essentially for one reason- I was exhausted!

This awareness was a stepping stone for me. Took me back to step one- and to questions i has not framed before.

I wavered between the past and present- excuses and denial. Denial of what my life actually was. A living nightmare. Death warmed up.

Today I have a breathing coach My therapist is a physiotherapist. I took a lead from Courage To Change, April 1st. Awareness, acceptance, action. Getting to the nub of things. Joining the human race. Getting to a point where I felt well.

My therapist is also in expert on trauma- which is the outcome of healthy breathing. Moving away from panic mode.

Just like having on foot on the accelerator- and the other foot hard on the brake!

Our oldest grandson is 18. last night he was off to the school prom. He has a girlfriend- and they were going together.

His dad has a big yellow 1960's American car. The couple went along in that. And were expected to come home in the same car. With our SIL driving, of course!

The three youngest grandkids were over here for an evening meal. I have a microphone and speaker in my office, from ANZAC day. Let this use these and they had a concert after dinner.

Live has changed for me- beyond all imagination. biggrin ...

Something I practice comes from Dr. Andrew Weil, a retired physician and natural practitioner with foods and sound advice. He has published several books, and one is totally on breathing. He recommends a simple breathing practice: breathe in to the count of 4, hold breath for the count of 7, exhale for the count of 8. Repeat several times. I have been doing this for 20 years. It can calm my mind when it is racing around!

smile Lyne... you welcome comment made my day!!! aww Thanks...

smile Debbs... you postings over the last week or so have cleared the air- and I think- given members renewed confidence!

Our group is like a big inner city group that has several meetings a day, sometimes- with all the richness and vibrance that this entails... aww ...

We have our southern assembly this coming Saturday. I have been made Group Rep. If they are free i am planning to take a couple of our new members along with me. For me this is liberating... as is everything that Alanon does... :)
