hello

Hi everyone,

I'm an ACOA member from the board 'next door'.

I have been an Al-Anon member in the past, and gave up my online Al-Anon group for trigger issues.

I had met people who were too much like my mother, and could not cope with it.

I have been in other fellowships as well ... let's say 12 steps has been my home for now 8 years.

I miss Al-Anon, I miss the basics, the slogans, the detachement rule, the 3C's, I need more of those rules in my life right now,

so I will come here, from time to time, I don't know why I did never come here before, besides,

I see some familiar face that I'm so glad to see aww.

Nice to be here,

Welcome Ileana. I have a F2F group now on zoom, I have a new sponsor, I have a program friend with whom I text each morning, but I have to give a shout out to this board which is where alanon started for me. No matter what mess I seem to be in, and occasionally have good news to report, folks here respond and its always been in a respectful way. I can write or just read. It can be the middle of the night and I have an outlet here. Im just encouraging you to give MIP a chance. For me, its part of my entire alanon life that helps enormously recover from the effects of alcoholism. :)

I recently met someone who.wasca lot like my mother. I tried to set limits with her. That did not go too well
The similarities were uncanny. The fawning they did was so excessive. Every day she allowed a certain amount of t ij me for fawning especially directed at certain people.
Like many people in recovery from complex ptsd fawning now feels absolutely unnerving . I don't know what the motivation is with people who claim to be the life and soul of the part no matter what. Of course, naturally, I have my.own people pleasing issues. In fact I would say at one point I was obsessed with it
The good thing is you know your limitations. My limitations are hard won. For some people you are their bff one minute and someone they claim to have no recovery the.next. how to is possible to go from being fawned on regularly to be dissected as sub human. That is quite a leap but they don't seem to notice. I don't think.
Here's to recovery. Lots of it

So glad you've joined us! I too find my center when I am embracing my recovery - I'm a double winner, so I will grab any available tool to help me with my sanity, serenity, sobriety and commitment to service. I'm all about the 'Take what you like and leave the rest' when I am triggered by others, in person, online, etc. Love that we can use our recovery in all our affairs! (((Hugs)))
