11/10/20 C2C Right Here, Right Now

What can I do right here, right now? From today's page in C2C, this is the question we can ask ourselves to help rightsize our (sometimes exaggerated) sense of responsibility.

Often the anxiety we feel is based upon something we fear in the future (minutes, hours, days, weeks) or something already completed. The 'now' is ours, everything else belongs to our higher power.

Reminder: We have the tools necessary and can deal with our challenges when we reduce them to only those we are responsible for, today, and trust our higher power to take care of the rest.

"Today is only a small manageable segment of time in which our difficulties need not overwhelm us. This lifts from our hearts and minds the heavy weight of both past and future." - One Day at a Time in AlAnon
-------------------
This is such a great reminder for me. If I am honest with myself I see that my anxiety is something I create, a byproduct of exaggerating my future obligations or dwelling on unchangeable events of the past. When I follow the guidance of Step 3 and live One Day at a Time, I can feel it slip away.

AlAnon Steps, principles and slogans work when I work them and trust in my higher power

Thanks Paul for your service. Yes that passage is a great reminder that I do not have to overwhelm myself, and that it is OK to make a plan to put some things aside. I always try to prioritize things that I need to take care of, and sometimes I even put the most annoying or unpleasant thing first. That way I feel a great relief to have taken care of a task I dislike. (Often it is scheduling a doctors appt. or taking care of some important phone call.). I agree, my program works when I work it.

Thank you Paul for your service today, and the great read.

Lyne - I have found that I like prioritizing things too... it helps me from feeling overwhelmed.

I must say, it was such a relief in the room of Al-Anon to learn that I could retire my "Manager" hat, and begin to let go of many things. Things I incorrectly thought I had control over, or could exert my will on! I believe it was one of the biggest things to affect my anxiety level!

I woke up today with Technology laughing in my face. Nothing is working properly... we'll see how this day goes. Wish me luck! LOL!

PnP let me know how it goes for you today.  I am struggling with an awareness I have had  for a long time and just thought it would go away or that God would do me a "special deal" and just leave me with the solving the acceptance of what is presently unacceptable. I maintain who I am and maybe that isn't good for the situation.  There is more I can do yet doing it alone doesn't feel good.  I pray, "Place me where you want me...tell me what to do" and then I relax.  It seems I should do unconscious in stead of relax.  Maybe.  I'll let you know.

aww Good reading Paul... and hi y'all... biggrin...

I use google a lot.recently boned up on Occam's Razor- which was helpful.

I always seem to have so much to do. I get angry and confused. Getting one thing done used to be a chore!

This detachment and serenity applies so much to myself. I had lost that focus until I came to Alanon.

smile Thanks.

Sell there never has been a clearer time that working ine day at a time was so.crucial.

I am glad that in some ways I feel more grounded these days.  I have cut back on work after.months of worki g 7 days a week to get through some debt. Niw i Aneed to work on a way to come up wwith a budget.

Taking care of myself was something I was really bad.at. That us one reason I ended uo with qualifiera. I felt completely unabke to take.care of myseld. I had absolutely no vonfixence in it.

Now after a year ifbimmense hardshio and real setbacks I am so much better at it.   Niw I am more resourceful, more patient but nost if all I have trust.   Trust is not aomething I can say I have had too much of.

While the world is so chaotic I can habe trust that I can take care.of myself but most of all move.myself.to a better space.

I am very thankful for that.  I certainly did nit have it last year.

Happy Tuesday MIP family! Thank you Paul for your service and the daily. Right here & right now - hummmmmm.....I do like this reading and it's been true for me. So, so often when 'life' happens, my mind immediately goes into the projection mode. I am better at projecting positive outcomes, yet that's not any better really. I have to be reminded on a regular basis that living happens in the present! Not in the past and certainly not in the future. *Sigh* - I'll own that I can be a slow learner yet a grateful learner as I pray/practice being willing each and every day.

PnP - When my 'tools' do not work as they are supposed to, that's just a push-button for me for anxiety. I hope all returned to working order for you and things normalized. I'm pretty good with technology yet not my specialty and not my interest. So - I am not thrilled with having to spend time/energy trying to fix something I did not knowingly break.

Jerry - we're here for you. You've continued to be in my prayers and I know you know yet I'm going to tell you - you're not alone.

I just got a call from my parents. Of course, with their age/stage, I still jump when the phone rings. My parents are fine yet my SIL, her sister and father have all tested positive for Covid-19. So far, my brother & the mother are negative. Every single one of these 5 people except my SIL have pre-existing conditions and have been extremely careful since this all began. I did not ask tons of questions but they have no idea where they got it, how they got it, etc. No church, no together, no dining out, no stores, etc.

For those of us affected by this disease, here's where I become uncertain on best next steps. This is my brother who never accepted my amends, so we're not close. We see each other and are superficial at holidays, funerals, etc. He was thoughtful when I was caring for our parents, etc. He's also not shared it with me - this came from my parents. So - I have sat with this for a bit, my best action is to just pray for them all and to hope for positive outcomes. If I am to take action, I feel confident I'll be nudged accordingly.

So - I am doing my best to have a joyful Tuesday. It's been a rainy day with cooler temperatures around here so no golf. I'm doing a bit of laundry around here and just chilling. I hope we can all just stay in the here and now, find gratitude for what is in the here and now and find and keep our joy! That's my plan...(((Hugs)))

I am here

I am so sorry to hear that your family have tested  positive. The good news is that it isnt like  the beginning when no one knew what it was .  Now there are treatments

I hope they can stay home and stay hydrated and rest

I am aware of how afraid you are for your parents

I have my own pre existing conditions. I just switched to a job where I have less risk. My other job was in contact with a lot of people hundreds a day high risk!!   And of course exhausting !!

I worry about certain people too.  Some of ny neighbirs are very high risk. They live really in quarantine.

Thank you for sharing. This year has been a rolercoaster for so many of us.

Iamhere, I am so sorry to hear your family tested positive. How cruel it is, being so careful, they would still end up sick. It makes one realize how little control we have. May HP hold you all close and make everyone well again. You and your family are in my prayers. ((((Hugs))))
