How important is it?

Compared to more important things I have realized things are not as important as sometimes they seem. The fact that I am alive & fairly healthy is far more important than petty things like which way the toilet paper should go or where something has to go. Mind you I believe that everything has a place. And that we should put back things where we found them right? But sometimes we just have to let go of control & let God do the things we can't do or are powerless over. Yes it is hard but really don't we have to take it easy on ourselves. We only have one life to live. Let's make the most of it. We can give ourselves a break & do self care.

Kathleen - I hear you and giggled about the toilet paper. I really do not care about that yet can get a bit distracted when things are not orderly around me. I've been battling a cold for 10 days now, and am behind with 'house stuff'...I was fretting about it and just as you mention, asked myself, "How important is it?" I was quasi-productive today and will do a bit each day and we'll see how that goes.

I've got some tendinitis and carpal tunnel in my left wrist that's been flaring up - in spite of a week of more rest than usual and no golf. I'm in a brace now - I'm left handed so this should really be 'fun'...I am hoping to golf tomorrow with the brace on - if I can't, I'll either quit, ride along or play through the pain. I have choices, all of which are OK for me!

You've been on my mind and heart....keep taking good care of you, one day at a time.

smile The important part about the ~important~ slogan, for me

is the reality checks. The figuring out of what was what. -and in a group this can start to happen for me.

This did not happen in my family wholly. There was little or no communication at times. No discussion or

clarification. Much more like "my way or the railway".

Emotion was the big thing for me in Alanon. Being able to sense what it was. Experiencing it. In my first

group I called it laughter and tears. Gals and pals...

Getting the precious essence of life itself. Getting to know people, and getting to know myself.

A good set of priorities- what important is. aww

       Thanks Kathleen, and Iam... aww

Hoot N - You are so right! We only have this one life...I am learning to take it easy on myself, and in turn, be easy on others as well!
Thanks for the share!

Thanks Hoot Nanny for your thoughts and all the great shares that came forward. So How Important Is It became really important to me. I have a tendency to be OCD, learned to verbally abuse myself early on in life over non-important things, and figured out with my sponsor and program that I deserved to be treated well, the same way I treat others. Therefore, this slogan allows me to self-evaluate things and I can make a decision to let go and let God. :)
