Z00M....DIFFERENT BUT SAME.

Just finished our weekly Thursday ZOOM facebook meeting and as usual for me as a gift from HP it was a winner.  Grateful to have it and suggest we all make use of it.  ((((hugs)))) wink

Jerry, I'm so glad you found a "winning" Zoom meeting. Certainly Zoom has opened up possibilities for me to attend more and different meetings than I would have before, and I am so grateful we have this option. I have heard great shares in these meetings, and I have shared as well.

The one thing I found lacking at first, was that I really missed the time to hang out and talk with people one-on-one after a meeting. That was when we could really connect and share even more deeply, especially with newcomers, and it seemed like on Zoom, people just logged out after the closing prayer -- and honestly, I was one of those people. But, I think there is hope. Recently I attended a Zoom meeting where we had a newcomer, and several of us stayed online after the formal meeting and had a great conversation with him. I think I just have to get more comfortable with the format.

Different but same -- a perfect description!!

My home group has a weekly zoom meeting at the day and time of our former in person meeting. We have newcomers all the time, and we also stay after the close of the meeting for a bit of social talk. It's not the same--no hugs, no close up and personal facial expressions, no body language to observe, but the same, heck yeah!

Same, same - we have zoom meetings at the same time/day as when face-to-face meetings happen(ed). I just discovered that a step meeting which had kind of stopped when we locked down has started back up too - which was a meeting with direct focus before a meeting, meeting. I am still adjusting to the format...I will admit that I can easily loose focus and get up to 'get something', forgetting I'm supposed to be in a meeting and focused. I am a perpetual multi-tasker when I'm on my computer all day long - not a good way to attend a meeting! It's a 'me issue'...

I found zoom really scary at first. Looking face to face at someone inside of their own home.

Having been to face to face meetings before is helpful. aww
