8/25/20 ODAT – We Can’t Lose...

...'by stopping to think: Easy Does It,' so recommends today's ODAT author, along with the questions: 'Have I ever accomplished anything good while my emotions were churning with hysteria? Am I aware that acting on impulse - saying the first thing that pops into my head - defeats my own purposes?'

Reminder: Expending self control to defuse or step away from confrontation helps my peace of mind and makes it easier to do the next time. Easy does it...allow the perceived importance to dwindle naturally with the passage of time.

"As long as I keep my poise, I will do nothing to make matters worse".
--------------
This is a great page and needed reminder, one I need to meditate on regularly and commit to before I am in an active situation. Rational thought is not always the first and easiest response in a flare up or challenging interchange.

My commentary is always better when I hold onto it until I've had more time to reflect, calm down, or consider further. Practicing this slogan has brings great benefits and not one regret.

Grateful for the wisdom of the program

Paul, thank you for your service.

This is such a great reminder!!
I tend to think of "Easy Does It" for myself, and "Practice the Pause" when it comes to responding to others. But they really are interchangeable!!

I really like this quote...especially in this heated political climate: "As long as I keep my poise, I will do nothing to make matters worse".

Thank you Paul for your service and the daily....thank you both for your ESH & shares. I still have to put a cork in my mouth when life happens because my innate response is rarely 'mature'. Thank goodness I am better at pausing to pray before I proceed - practice, practice, and more practice has helped me be better at responding vs. reacting.

I am finding that it's really, really easy to be serene when life is going well. As we all endure the affects of this pandemic and then add in a couple of curve balls, left unchecked, I can return to some insanity quickly.

Easy Does It helps me to realize and remember that I do not have to solve world hunger TODAY. I can make a plan and take some steps to get through today and do it again tomorrow. Forward action always helps me see that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel...even when it seems so darn dark.

I lost my car keys yesterday at the golf course. I have never lost my car keys so this is a new experience for me. In typical type A form, I have now driven the golf course from start to finish, recalling each shot and driving around seeking them out. So far, they've not shown up. For those who wonder, yes, it's become a slight obsession...

I remain hopeful they will be found yet decided I need to take action. I am so grateful that all that was on my key-chain was my car KEY FOB, a key to my BR door and the post office lock box key. For each, I have a spare. However, now that the original set is lost, I am using the spares and don't have a spare. This concerns me so I am getting spares - easier said than done on the vehicle. I have been racking my brain and beating myself up over this for more than 24 hours - knowing it's insane - it's just KEYS!!! Yet, here I am - so action is good for my brain/soul right now.

I hope all have had a great Tuesday!! Mine was certainly better than my Monday...ha.ha.ha. (((Hugs)))
