The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Such a great page today in Courage, sums up how so many of us got here but more importantly: how to get to a better place.
I came here to change others, but found out I needed to change myself...practice the 12 Steps of AA in my own life, develop a higher power, and accept that I am responsible for the serenity and joy in my life, not changing someone else's. I need to keep the focus where it belongs: on me.
So grateful for the guidance and wisdom of the program

Thanks Paul. I dont mind being reminded that I came to program to change my A, and have had a surprise outcome: I changed (am changing) myself! And with all the hard work, I learned Im worth it!
Paul, thank you for this reading! I love going back to the basics of Al-Anon, or maybe I should say going forward to the basics.
I went to my first Al-Anon meeting out of desperation, but the change I was thinking of at that time was that this would show my alcoholic loved one how bad things were, and that it was all his fault. Part of my intention was to send the message, "See what you've done? I actually have to go to a support group because of you! It's all your fault! And I hope you feel guilty about that!"
Of course, I really had to go to a support group because of me, for me, to benefit me, and to remedy some defects in me. Even though I had the wrong motivation, I wound up in the right place.
Raising my hand as one who needs to be reminded regularly (daily) that I am a person in recovery, hoping to grow and change to be more healthy...mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically. I also arrived with hopes of fixing all that was wrong in my family and discovered I was powerless over all people, places and things that are not me! It was truly very difficult for me to trust the process and program, yet I have found that things have improved greatly since I've changed my focus through recovery! Call me a grateful member, one day at a time!

Thank you Paul for the reminder that I am responsible for the serenity and joy in my life. I am grateful for your service.
