Last week’s hope for today! July 19

I thought I posted this!  So sorry everyone.  It was sitting here waiting to go as I got ready to write today.  What day is it again???? My apologies. Heres last weeks writing:

Good morning Everyone:

Today?s reading is about our growth toward self sufficiency.  Many of us who grew up in alcoholism or have lived in it have fit the description as written about in the first paragraph.  Believing that other people around us would simply know what we want and expect from the people around us. The writer surmises that since children of alcoholics miss some of the particular energy and attention that parents are able to give, there is a yearning for it throughout our lives.   As we grow into adulthood we must come to terms with taking responsibility for meeting our own needs rather than expecting others to fulfill them.

The writer uses the slogan ?let it begin with me? as a reminder for emotional self-support, that no one around us can read our minds, so if we need something, we can make that known and/or take care of it ourselves.  This makes me think of an energy that radiates outward.  If I can focus on my self and what I need in my life, that energy will spread out and away from me.  Another idea that comes to mind is that we can?t escape our problems no matter what outside situations we surround ourselves with; similarly, we can be content in our happiness not based on anything outside The thought for today is a great reminder that while we have no power over alcoholics and alcoholism, we are not powerless over ourselves.
