Today's Hope April 22

Hello MIP! Today's reflection speaks about being patient. The author shares that we get what we want out of the program over time. If we want a better way of life, the diminishment of pain, or love, we will find it by working the program. Over time, our lives can improve a great deal through the 12 step program, so our most important job is to keep coming to meeting and working the steps.

Today's Saying: Cluttered mind, cluttered life.

Today's Quote: "When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love." - Marcus Aurelius

----------------

Today's reflection was short and sweet, and absolutely rang true to me. I have often thought about the Alanon program as similar to a weight loss problem. (For context, I've struggled to keep my weight down since elementary school.) If things are going well, but I stop working the program, slowly but surely my weight increases and my AlAnon tools slip out of sight. But, by showing up and working the steps, or by paying attention every day to my weight, exercises, and food intake, even when things don't go the best ever, I am still on track for success because I am working the program and doing my part. The changes stick, even if I slip up once in a while or have an off day. I can chose to be gentle with myself and try again. After all, a new 24 hours starts every minute.

I hope you are doing well and staying healthy!

Thanks ((skorpi))) for the daily reading and your share. I enjoyed your weight loss analogy. I like the idea of thinking of Alanon as an exercise in helping toward physical, emotional and spirual fitness. Very nice! :)

I especially like today's quote. What a great reminder the word priviledge is. As I participate in what is mostly stay at home recommendations where I live, more than ever i can be grateful to be alive and show my thanks to my higher power by living fully in today.

Hope everyone has a great day today!  TT

Thank you Skorpi for your service, and TT for your share!

This reading reminds me of "The Pause." That is what I think of when I think of patience as it pertains to this program. By pausing, we are exhibiting patience. We are allowing what needs to unfold, well... unfold! Many times we can find the answers we seek by being patient.

I especially enjoy the Quote of the Day!! It is really cool to read something spoken so long ago, pertain to this modern day!!

Happy Earth Day y'all!! It is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Listen to the birds... hug a tree, walk barefoot in the grass. Enjoy mother nature's bounty and reaffirm what you can do to help our Earth sustain herself! Despite all that we are going through, I must admit I love watching videos of how are planet is healing in this short time of limited human being impact. Very interesting!

Thank you Skorpi for the daily and for your service. Thanks to all for your ESH and shares. I love that quote and embraced it long ago! For much of my life, I didn't think I'd see the age of 50 and wasn't sure if I wanted to. Yet, with recovery, I do wake up each day grateful to be alive and view the day as a clean slate to be a better version of me than yesterday.

Patience has never been a word used to describe me - in self-inventory or by others. It's been an area where I've had to practice, practice, practice and will have to keep doing so. Yet, I see improvement and am tickled pink for that. I truly do think that our attitude and outlook combined with honesty, willingness and an open-mind have given me the best chance at a joyful life, one day at a time.

Happy Earth day!! I am loving all the data/reports that show the animals and various plants that are thriving since most 'humans' have been staying @ home. I love seeing the global views of cleaner air, less pollution, etc. I pray that we learn from this 'modified normal' that our Earth is a limited resource and we really need to love and respect if just a bit more!

Love and light all...(((Hugs))) too!
