After many years of not knowing what was going on in my adult Son's life, today was a first - he called me on my birthday (70 !), he called at 7:30 AM, he was clean and sober and healthy, and I'll be seeing him FTF later on today - life is good. I'm glad that I hung on through those dark years - for some reason, my HP and Al Anon guided me to not closing the door on my Son.

Not really a reunion today, per se, cause I've seen him very frequently over the last couple of years since he moved back here shortly after he got sober, BUT, every single time I see him since he got sober, my heart is so joyful and I am so grateful that his life took a positive turn - every single time I see him like this is a gift. On a side note, most of the time I'm seeing him over the past couple of years is when I gave him a ride to work - and that, too, is HUGE - cause me giving him a ride to work means that I've NOT bought him his 5th car - so, yeah, I've grown, too !!!
Happy birthday,Texas! and thank you for sharing your joyful story. It' feels great when we see our kids doing well, and the fact that they were not always doing well in the past makes it sweeter. Have a wonderful day!
Happy 70th! I hope that your meet-up with your son filled your soul with Joy!
