Today's Message 2/1/2020

Happy February MIP! Today's message is from The Language of Letting Go by Melody Beattie. It is about Step 2:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"We come to believe  in a better life through the powerful gift of other people -  hearing them, seeing them, watching the gift of recovery at work in their lives.
There is a Power greater than ourselves. There is real hope  now that things can and will be different and better for us and our life.
We are not a "do it ourselves" program. We do not have to exert willpower to change. We do not have to force our recovery to happen. We do not have to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps just so we believe there is a Power greater than ourselves - one who will get the job done in our life. This Power will do for us what your greatest and most diligent efforts could not accomplish.
Our Higher Power will restore us to a sane beneficial life. All we do is believe.
Look. Watch. See the people around you. See the healing they have found. Then discover your own faith, your own belief, your own healing.
Quote for Today: "Today, regardless of the circumstances, I will believe to the best of my ability that a Power greater than myself can and will restore me to a peaceful,  sane way of living. Then I will relax and let Him do that."
*emphasis added by PNP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When I first arrived, I did think I needed to exert my willpower. I was trying to force recovery. The principles, the Steps... it is all so easy!!! OK. I got this! Do this, attend that, detach, detach, detach!

But it isn't about checking off the boxes. For people who are in Al-Anon, it is about Accepting and Letting Go. ALLOWING another (our HP as you define that power) to "Take the wheel," so to speak. For me, real healing, real change began happening when I realized this!

Have a wonderful weekend MIP Family! I am going to enjoy the unseasonably warm and sunny weather today by sowing some flower seeds, and then for me, tomorrow is all about the Super Bowl! The hype, the food, and yes, even the commercials! LOL!

Wishing you all   &

   smile Nice reflections, P.

Sunday here already... sitting in a caravan beside a lake. Going to watch grandkids compete in a rowing regatta in 40 mins.

So we learn that we are powerless, and that our higher power is powerful. For me this is the unconditional love of god- which I

often see in other people first, before I see it in myself. For me it does not matter too much- about the framework around the

belief system- so long as the belief is there. aww

Thanks PnP for your service, the daily and your ESH/share! Happy Saturday to you and most of MIP! Happy Sunday to you David and thank you for your share! What I have learned and continue to learn is that upon awakening, I need to remember I am a person in recovery and practicing my recovery which includes my spiritual life is absolutely necessary for me to have a shot at Serenity! One Day at a Time, I just practice what's suggested and I and my life improve.

I get into trouble when I allow my will and my wants to cloud my thoughts. A great, great tool is if/when I forget who I am - I can start my day over at any time! Where I am, who I am and what's next is based on the Master Plan, which my HP has. All I need to do is show up each day, be willing and open and trust.

Make it a great day all! Been to a meeting, cooked some brunch and ... next on the agenda - a nap! Enjoy....

Thanks pnp and for all the shares. Giving up my way and trying anothers way, took some doing, especially when that meant giving up control, which I never had anyway regarding my A. I thought I could fix the alcoholic but had to accept reality, I cant. I tried to force solutions and listening to my sponsor time and time again, talk about such behavior. Its an entire group effort that has affected me and allowed me growth and change. Its all the tools and all the people and of course, HP. Grateful member, Lyne
