ODAT for 1/25/2020 -

The ODAT for the day speaks about filling the void left when we remove bad or compulsive habits

with the opposite or good habits.  The secret is to replace the I Will Not" with "I Will".

The reminder, per the ODAT, is that if we are unhappy and critical, that we should seek out what is good and pleasing in our own life and fix our mind on that task.

I stopped trying to force myself to eliminate my faults when I found it didnt work."  "Then I realized that I had to replace them with something better".

My focus, since I joined Al Anon, has been to become a more informed and improved me!

This was, I found to be the most important replacement that I made was when I replaced the I Will Not" accept the alcoholics decision to drink, with

"I Will" take care of myself by minding my own business, I opened up an amazing world of possibilities to grow and therefore, to Let Go and Let God.

I was off and running after that!

Blessings to you all

Thank you Debb for your service, the daily and your share/ESH. I arrived and was obsessive about the A in my life - their words, actions, deeds, health, finances, etc. It was suggested I try some opposite choices/behaviors - so when I wanted to comment on something they were or were not doing, I opted instead to go for a walk, or listen to music or .... something that helped me change my own thoughts/actions.

We say around here often that we struggle to think our way to right action, but can act our way to right thinking. This rings true for me - my mind isn't always the best place to look for solutions when a crisis is happening! I do much better in maintaining some grace and sanity if I pause instead, pray for then determine how best to proceed - for me.

Healthy action has been a lovely change for me to counter my obsessive thoughts. With practice, I can curb those thought much faster and get myself focused on something I can change - me.

Happy Saturday all - off to a meeting in a while and a few errands! Make it a great day!

Thanks Debb for your service and above shares. What a wonderful concept, replacing I Will Not with I Will. This is what alanon is all about - changing me for the positive and letting go of all the negative previously focused on, whether I was consumed with my A or myself or someone else. The daily readers have life lessons for me and finding constructive change. ODAT. Lyne

Thank you Debb for your service, and all of those who shared your ESH!

I too, love the idea of trading "I won't" with "I will!!"

Meeting with my sponsor in a bit, and then a CalPhil concert tonight! Make it a great Saturday, no matter what you are doing, Friends!
