C2C Reading Tues 1-7

The C2C reading  for today  stresses the importance  of iving life ODAT, using alanon tools such as the slogans, the  :"one day at a time bookmark ".  The reading stresses the importance of having a quiet time in which to pray, meditate and connect with HP

We must remember that  it is important to solve our own problems with the help of  HP.  We need to  trust that  god speaks through people and so it is important to connect and listen with an open mind,

Make it a great day

Good morning Betty and thank you for your service and the daily....The ODAT concept for me has been one of the greatest gifts of recovery. As I ponder all that made me 'tick' BR (Before Recovery), I realize(d) that I rarely, if ever, was present. I was consistently and persistently in the past or the future and neither was a good place to be, based on my faulty perceptions and thinking.

I am better able today, through practice of our program to stay in this day and be present. I do believe that nothing happens by mistake and that my HP speaks to me through each person, event, etc. in each day. I am consistently amazed at what I 'see' and 'hear' when I stay grounded in the here and now of just this day.

Happy Tuesday to one and all - I'm cooking dinner now and food prepping for my week before heading out to the golf course this afternoon. Make it a great day all - find and keep your joy!

Thank you Betty for your service and thoughts, and Iamhere as well for your ESH.

I wake 2 hours earlier than I "have to" so that I can quietly sit at my computer, read through the posts on this forum and have my coffee. On my drive to work, I have made it a habit to recite my Gratitude List and thank my HP. These practices help me to stay present and positive. When I find my mind turning to the "future tripping" it loves to do, I remind myself that I actually only have THIS DAY. I am in control of my actions on this day. If I am attending to the "next right step," (and not 5 steps in the future) then I am thinking in a healthy manner.

This is working for me.

There are some personnel changes occurring at my job... some are due to happy occasions, some not. In any case, the already demanding job is going to be tougher. I am just reminding myself to take each day as they come... ask for strength and a healthy body so that I can work at my best. One Day At A Time!

Thanks Betty for your service and for both great shares. I thought the slogans were such silly things when I came to program. Now they mean so much to me!

I believe HP speaks to me directly and through others. I dont mean that I hear a voice, but things pop into my head, solutions that Ive been asking for help with, and sometimes it comes through recovery people. Sometimes group members say that this meeting or this reading is just what they needed at that moment in time. How recovery comes to us is very interesting to me. And as Betty said, try to listen with an open mind. Good suggestion, Lyne

Thank you Betty for your service and IAH, PnP and Lyne for your thoughtful shares.

As usual I can glean something from every single post.  I find myself shaking my head in agreement and thinking, "Exactly!"

I find that keeping an open mind is key to allowing program concepts and tools to sink in and take hold.  I was always a black/white thinker.  It was either right or wrong and I would be the only judge on that, thank you very much!  Ugh.

I also find time each day to reflect on my gratitude, the particular step I am back to and to contemplate the next right thing to do....or not. If I don't start the day with it, I always end the day with it. Interesting in that I NEVER looked at my motives before alanon.  Not so surprising, a lot of my behavior throughout the years has been selfishly, and motive driven.  I forgive myself, however.  I have forgiven myself for many things since alanon.  I did what I did at the time because it was what I knew and where I was at.

Great message for today....thank you again.

Happy Tuesday MIP!

Ellen

Thank you for your words, Ellen.

I have decided to forgive myself too - I tend to be harder on myself than any other person! When we know better, we do better (at least we try! LOL!)!
