C2C, 1/6

The theme of tomorrows reading, 1/6, is about staying in touch with other alanon members.  The writer says that patient listening from others gets burdens off their chest.  The person listening by phone or text can help the caller reason things out.  The listener can provide support, and the caller can receive a different perspective on their issues.  Help is always available if we are willing not to keep our problems trapped inside our head.

Quote:  We cannot climb up a rope that is attached only to our own belt.

An alanon group member and myself fell into a habit of texting each other every morning.  It wasnt a conscious plan.  It just evolved as a natural extension from our meeting.  And everything that was said in todays reading is true-we support each other, offer different perspectives, remind each other of tools we can use, often offer a slogan or remind each other of a stepit works when you work it!  Lyne

Yes, Lyne... contact- connect- network... is a great thing. As a male I may not initiate contact as much as others. But I certainly respond... and always say that healthy boundaries help build bridges... ...build confidence and trust. smile ...

It is Monday here already, of course. A coolish day. Bought fruit- but everything is ripening late this year...

Good morning MIP! Thank you Lyne for your service and the daily. Thanks to you and David for your shares and ESH! It's very cold here for us, but still not seasonal - could/should be colder. We are not golfing today - and thanks to recovery, I have a plan B!

Fellowship (my summary word for keeping in fellowship with others in recovery) is as important to my self-care as exercise, coffee and healthy eating! I tend to repeat myself often, so here it is again - I have a daily routine that helps keep me aligned with my HP and my recovery and part of that routine includes reaching out to others - in and out of recovery. I have several text groups - golf, softball, recovery, family, HS, etc. and each morning, I send out a Good Morning message to include a reminder to find and keep your joy and to make it a great day. I don't call someone each day, but make sure to let those I love know that they are on my mind, in my heart and a part of my journey!

My routine and all that it includes is key to my sanity, serenity and recovery. I feel 'it' when I change things up and try hard to stay focused, one day at a time. Happy Monday all - enjoy your day and find/keep your joy! As part of the New Year, and based on the grief and healing in my family unit, I've changed up my taco routine! The first Monday of each Month, family is now my taco team vs. my recovery gal pals! I have no doubt this change was divinely suggested, and am looking forward to tonight! (((Hugs))) to all.

Thank you for your service Lyne.  Thank you David and IAH!

Hmmm....I think this is an areas I could work on.....staying in closer contact....even by text with other members.  In our group we tend to reach out for support (or offer it) but I know that I don't send out too many messages of just, "good morning" and the such.  I truly appreciate this reading and how I could apply it.

Sunny, windy and cold......but no accumulated snow on the ground here.  YIPEE!  Happy Monday to all!

Ellen
