Hope for Today Dec 29

Good morning Everyone-

Todays reading is about the idea of balance, accepting things we cannot change, and finding our sense of serenity.  The writer describes having had difficulty with physical balance until a time that he/she felt a connection with the earth and the physical pull of gravity.  The writer likened this to surrendering to Gods will, rather than flailing about trying to insist on his/her own will.  When the writer let go of attempting to control, and using the tools in alanon, he/she felt more balanced and centered in serenity.

This reading reminds me of a time that my sponsor suggested I take a look at when I was feeling anxious or out of sorts.  What I started to see was these feelings coming up anytime I was trying to insert my will or what I thought I wanted out of any given situation.  Letting go of the idea that I need to steer things which are outside of my control has helped me live in the present moment and with less angst!

The last few days of the year always bring a mix of melancholy and hopefulness for me.  I hope the end of 2019 are happy days for all of you and that 2020 gets off to a positive start as well!

Mary

Thank you Mary for your service and the daily. BR (Before Recovery), balance was a goal for me that seemed out of reach! I knew it was healthier and really, really tried ... I just did not have the tools to have much success. In Recovery, I've been given many tools and suggestions for how to embrace recovery and it seems, when I do what's suggested, that balance is a delightful result or gift of the efforts.

As I retired from seeking perfection a while ago, I'm tickled pink with progress. I do see progress in my life on balance and am grateful. Happy Sunday to one and all - make it a great day! (((Hugs)))

    Thanks Mary, and IAm...

I found balance in a practical way. I found out that my left ear was blocked. I thought it was normal. I was going to a chiropractor and he worked on this area. As a kid i had glue ear- and needed up living in a wold of my own. That became my norm. And it seemed merely that my ear was blocked with wax. I have a lot of catching up to do- but I can hear the timbre and nuance in people's voice s now. I am no longer drowned in sound when I am in a crowded room. But also my balance is improved markedly. I no longer stumble and fall like I used to. Muddled and feeling shamed.

 smile ...
