I finally started my new position with the company and, nan, I feel out of place, lol. It's an office of all MEN and it's like an old boys' club. they have their ways and I'm just the new chick on the block, so to speak. i have a lot to learn and I've already had so much thrown at me. I found out I have to get licensed for being a mortgage broker on top of all the other licensing I have had to reactivate or finally start using! GO figure.
it's a very different role and the energy is so different, as well. I can tell it's going to be a day to day struggle to get my bearings as I'm learning 2 roles right now AND getting my compliance and licensing up to date, too. I feel like I always have to be ON, so to speak. there is so much that needs to be done but I can tell that everyone works hard and puts effort in so it makes me feel good to know I'm with people who work hard like I do. We'll see where this leads but I'm really excited to get this job off the ground and to stick my peep toe pumps into the mix, lol.
Wish me luck!

Congratulations and great luck. Youre going to do fine because you have the program in your briefcase along with your other stuff for work. Easy does it and one day at a time and just be yourself and do your best and it is going to be great
Sometimes that environment can be difficult (women have found they have to work twice as hard to get the same recognition as their male counterparts) but as you have previously shared, you are not opposed to hard work. You are bright and super capable, so you will have this in hand very soon! Just remember to give yourself some TLC at the end of the day (to avoid burnout)... and as Rose said, have your briefcase packed with Program tools!
Wishing you not luck, but good, capable skill, and great Kharma to surround you!

You got this B - you got this! So glad to hear that you've arrived at your new job! My best suggestion is no different than what you know and we've all heard so many times - just take it all one day/moment at a time, and don't forget to breathe....(((Hugs)))

Good luck and thanks for sharing this. I started back at a job I used to do seven years ago and it's not the same now as it was then. I have new bosses and they do things differently than I did them back in the day. (I work in the field of alcoholism and addiction). I thought I had missed the job but it was the old job I missed, not this new one. But, they keep paying me so I keep showing up for work. What was that they said. One day at a time. Oh, and my new boss is a woman, but I don't think that's the problem. She does her job well. As Keb'Mo says if you wanna fix the problem, Put A Woman In Charge.

Good for you! I think if anyone can make it as the only chick in an otherwise all-male environment, that would be you.
I remember when you used to do the mowing--in that heat--because it needed to be done. They're going to love having you on their team.
And here you go again--a Whole Bunch of new stuff to learn. You now know that you can learn new stuff with no problem. And you certainly aren't going to stagnate. Sounds like a great environment for you, where everybody works as hard as you do.
P.S. If you are in touch with SRU, tell her she is missed.

That is the challenge right now. Every job is actually what was two jobs in the past. I.started a new job too (albeit part time) it is challenging to get used to everything.new.
I also have to.work another part time job. There are issues for ne with cash flow. That means in effect no.day off.
Good luck with your challenge

HAHA, Temple.....geez that was so dang long ago! Like 6-8 years ago!
I honestly can't believe it's been 5 years of being on my own and I'm still trying to figure myself and certain things out. Never would I have thought I'd be where I am today. My life is not perfect but it's livable and enjoyable and I like where I'm at right now. This week will bring it's own challenges but I'm mentally ready for whatever it holds. Working with these men is a challenge honestly but I'm hoping I can fit in as time moves on!

I once lived on the other side of the mirror; the only man in a department full of women. Interesting dynamic (both sides), for sure! What helped was making sure I was competent in what I did, and not be afraid to ask questions or ask for help.
