ODAT READING 10-22

The ODAT reading fort today stresses the importance of examining our motive in order to uncover our negative destructive attitudes
It points out that we have many positive qualities so that we must also  embrace them and remember the Walt wthimqn quote;' i am  larger better than I thought i did not know i held so  much goodness."

Have a great day

Thank you Betty for your service and the daily.....I was a huge reactive soul prior to embracing recovery. Today, I am better served by pausing, praying and then proceeding. I have found that pause choice gives me ample time to really look @ my motives and often realize I am projecting, self-serving or the like in my thoughts. I am grateful for so many tools to assist me do, be, respond differently today than before!

Happy Tuesday MIP family. I have stepped out from golf today as it's kind of cold and I have some 'adulting' to do! Another friend and I are departing on a roap trip to AZ next Monday, so getting some things done around here will help me relax better and have fun.

Make it a great day all.....(((Hugs)))

Thanks Betty for your continued, dedicated service to this board!

Alanon teaches me many positive tools which help me be a better person, not only to others, but myself. When I am willing/able to examine my underlying motives and attitudes, I can choose behavior with care and compassion instead instead react as IAH said. The pause is importantto give ourselves time to think and reason things out. Oh what great words of wisdom! Lyne

Thank you Betty for your service and the daily. I appreciate and value your shares, Iamhere & Lyne!
I agree with you Lyne... Al-Anon has not only taught me how to better treat and appreciate myself, but others as well! A true gift!

I know that I balked at the thought of "Examining my motives," when I first came into the rooms of Al-Anon. I was the one that was wronged! I was the one who kept everything together! I did all the "heavy lifting" in my relationship... how dare you say I have "motives!" Yeah, it took a moment (as they say) for me to understand and identify my motives.

Today, I am thankful that I can pause and ask myself, "What am I needing/trying to accomplish?" Many of my "fixing/controlling" behaviors were well hidden!

I am grateful that I awoke today with a positive attitude and zero back pain! Today is the 3 month evaluation by my father's cardiologist since his scare with open heart surgery (he was too poor a candidate ) Today he will get rid of his temporary defibrillator, and find out if he needs a permanent defibrillator placed (I have not mentioned here that he does NOT want one), so I am hoping for the best, but trying to embrace Acceptance of the outcome.

(((Betty)))  thank you for your service....oh yea, "check my motives" and many times I have felt OK about them and other times, step 4...as I work and re work step 4, I find more and more positive about me...its not just the negative...I see both and I see progress....
