Susanna that may or not may be difficult in getting good guidance unless also getting a phone number too.  For me the personal characteristics of sponsorship work much better.  Are there any meetings close by with members of good experience? (((hugs))) smile

The best way to get a sponsor is to get to know people and have them get to know you I highly recommend sponsorship. Maresie

  aww I got a sponsor after about 8 or 10 years of being in a group... a good time... I am not a candidate here- but maybe Maresie is right.

       I regard this online group as my home group- and this might be as good a place as any- to get to know people... biggrin ...

Hi Susanna....i surfed the posts and sorta got to know the folks I was most comfortable with and we would chat/pm back and forth and when I felt right about someone, I just asked them, but I wanted to have it voice as well as online..I need a voice, at least..preferably face2face but if I can't get fac2fac, but that is just me..I need to "trade emotions" with my sponsor and I was lucky to have one, fac2fac one, and he was a male (not recommended -op sex- sponsors, but he was in a committed relationship) and anyway, I had 2 sponsors at one time when I was really messed up and I needed the extra strength approach..now I have a recovery partner and we share, she is recovering alcoholic and we work great together...I also have added a spiritual guide/mentor and I just love her too.....

ooops sorta got off track, anyway, I just surfed the posts and when I did find someone, I just asked them

NOW, that said, IF they say "no" its usually because they just can't right now and maybe they are full...dealing with an issue, etc., but pleeeeeze don't take it personally...I got turned down by one or two because one was booked...the other was going thru some stuff and was not taking ANYone at that time...

your post said "online" so I take it you are "OK" with being just on computer?? Should be easier for you than it was for me, needing the more intimate voice, video, etc.....You will find someone....right here is a good place to go "shopping".....BEST to you and glad you are here
