giving back to my community

I am going on a journey these days trying to get out of self as much as I am able. I was doing a community project sorting different pine cones & talking about living in the same city that I grew up in. IT was fascinating for me. I needed to hear more about the town I was born in & lived in for a long time off & on. Anyhow, I just love giving back. This particular project involves kids from our community. Sometimes I think they have a lot of kids show up! The event is during my birthday week so I won't be attending the event so I thought I would help. Now I am sitting here hoping to do whatever is I can to help others. I want to make a difference in this world & make a legacy.

That is why I decided to do my memoir. It is coming along. Yesterday I wrote details about my childhood & the schools I attended! I thought that I could write more & I kept on. But my right hand is failing me. So, I think I got through that. Then I decided to write some places I have been. It is hard to compile so much history. I guess it will all be worth in the end. I am not sure if I said this already or not. My dad died less  than 8 years ago. Anyhow I am dedicated the story to my mom & dad. I hope I have the end done soon so I don't have to let my mom go. She has dementia & who knows when she is going to get worse. A side note: I am the only family member who calls her that I know of & I said you must have a really "special" daughter.

I didn't plan on writing this much but I guess it is time.

Kathleen - good for you for your writing as well as for your community efforts! I really, really enjoy doing service work of all kinds - in and out of the program. I got a chuckle out of your 'special' daughter comment....anytime I am out and about with my parents, I introduce myself as the favorite daughter (I am the only daughter....)! Keep smiling and spreading your joy - it's lovely to see!
