The reading for Monday, 6/24, is about having the ability to change ones attitude.  The author says that success and failure are a matter of perspective.  Prior to alanon we knew great disappointment, and began to doubt our ability to change anything.  We were unable to see the great successes we have all the time.  By entering the rooms of alanon, and asking for help, we have the opportunity to change long-held behavior and beliefs.  That is a great achievement!

This reading rings true for me as I felt so stuck and defeated prior to program.  I had tried everything under the sun to help my A stop drinking.  And of course, nothing worked.  By practicing shifting the focus onto myself, going to meetings and working with my sponsor, the light finally came on.  My attitude has done a 180 degree change, all for the better.  Just today my A and I came to a difficult moment in time.  I decided to let it go.  Why should I ruin my Sunday with anger, resentment, and frustration?  I didnt.  And thats changed attitude at work.  Lyne

Lyne - Thank you for your wonderful share and your service!

We can either hang onto the rope and stay in the chaos, or we can choose to drop the rope and find some peace. It is the one thing we have complete control of! LOL!
Love, love, your changed attitude!

Hello and happy Monday MIP! Thank you Lyne for the daily and for your service. Thank you and PnP for your shares and ESH. I too arrived feeling defeated and so beat down. I was not even aware (denial) how negative I really was - more was revealed! Today, practicing Al-Anon recovery as best I can, I have a changed attitude. When 'life' happens today, I know it's temporary and not an indication of all future events. I can stop myself from allowing fear to settle in, thus helping me project negative outcomes and future events. Learning to live One Day at a Time, practicing prayer/meditation and trusting in a power greater than I were the catalysts for me to change my attitude, outlook and beliefs.

I do believe in the power of positive thinking too. We had a great meeting yesterday about Letting Go and Letting God, and it was so magical to hear each and every person share about the power of prayer and meditation in their lives....that's how it rolled, naturally, as these tools are so necessary to Letting go and Letting God.

I am grateful I have a different attitude. I am so glad to be free of the worry, anxiety, fear, etc. of before. Changed attitudes aid recovery - so, so true! Make it a great day family!!

Thank you Lyne and all others who have shared !  I found myself getting frustrated and falling back on old thoughts last week. None of my expectations were being met!  How appalling....lol.  I realized I needed to not only drop the expectations, but have a serious talk with my attitude!  Serious talk!  It does make a difference and I have felt relief. I have the tools....I sometimes  walk a maze to get to them!

Hugs to all,

Ellen
