Learning opportunities

I admit it was hard to be back in the foo of enmeshment. It bought out my defensive, aggressive, offensive sides. It was frustrating to think "I" had the answers if only "they" would wake up/quit crying/start living. But now I'm just observing and can see how affected by this disease most of the foo are. I must remember these life stories unfolding and winding up before my ears and eyes and do everything in my power to change me. I am averse to over emotional displays but now I think in the long term it must be terrible to be actually mired in those emotions and I'm grateful I "got with the programme". More accurately, the programme got with me showing up in 12th step snippets at interesting times from the age of 19. Being here on my tiny little island with kids who go to school gives me a lot more time to reflect.I am powerless over others but not over me and that's a lot of freedom!

Amen!!! I can so relate as I have a large family and the disease and affects are ever-present. I too am really grateful I am in recovery and willing to focus on me, and let go and let God....great share and you sound really serene - keep doing what you're doing - looks awesome on you!

a4l, if I am open to it, everyday is an opportunity for learning and using my tools. My FOO is a mess also, but I can change me and that's exactly what I'm doing. It's freedom and peace and work and a whole lot of other things, and all worth it. Thanks for this share, Lyne

It's great having time to write and reflect with people on the journey all around the world. Its a rainy grey morning here, children eating breakfast, a few brave chickens digging for bugs, 14 year old cat on the rug and a cup of coffee. Wishing all a lovely evening/day.
