Hope for Today Apr 7

Good morning everyone-

Todays reading is about how many tools in the program help us alleviate worry. Step 3 is mentioned, as the decision to turn our will and lives over to God is the humility needed to acknowledge that we are the result of all that has been part of our lives.  The difficulties and triumphs are all part of how we got to the moment we are living right now.  For me, anxious thoughts and worries used to be able to take over and I would feel as if I were on a speeding train (of thoughts) on a circular track. There is great relief in turning over these types of thoughts to my HP and knowing that I dont have to figure out every moment-past, present and future.

Let Go Let God is also referenced in the writing today.  As a cardholding control freak, I always find it so difficult to let go!  My ego really wants to insist that I must know better.   Slowly I am learning that there is strength in knowing that my HP can and will help me live right in the present where I am.  I love the thought for the day from this page:  the simile of worry being like a rocking chair giving us something to do, but it gets us nowhere.

I hope everyone enjoys a peaceful and worry-free Sunday!

Mary

Happy Sunday MIP! Thank you Mary for your service and the daily. Thank you and Betty for your shares and ESH. I too am grateful for our program and have way better days when I work it! I have never counted, but I suspect Let Go and Let God pops into my head a hundred times per day. No matter if I am in traffic, at home, golfing, softball, socializing, meeting, etc. - it appears to be a go-to tool for me.

Make it a great day all - meeting, golf, little people - a simple and fun day for me! (((Hugs)))

Mahalo Mary and Ladies for your shares on what I believe has been the most important principle of recovery on my life.  Until I made the choice to accept the program and the fellowship and the steps and traditions and the literature and feedback; all of it, I was stuck in the insanity of my life affected by alcoholism and drug addiction in my family.  When I reached the age of 9 the disease took a concrete hold on my life when I was introduced to alcohol myself.

I was an inquisitive person and still am and so the searching and fearless moral inventory of myself was a huge suggestion and endeavor.  I needed to know who I was and where I had come from and how I was affected by it all  which became the greatest work I have ever done.  My sponsor emphasized "searching and fearless" and so we went deep which I am still attracted to do.  I find inappropriate characteristics still rooted with in me at times trying to expose themselves seemingly without permission.  The "where in the hell" did that come from reaction still gets my attention and often I go back to digging.

I found out that one of the character defects I used was relying upon the stuff that makes me "What I am,  the man stuff" which caused me and others so much failure.     I am grateful for this post it eases the way.   ((((hugs)))) wink
