ODAT REading 3-26

The ODAT  reading  for today 3-26  speaks about the  basic  fact that alcoholism  is e disease
And as the first step suggests a disease over which we are powerless.
The reading  asks what keeps  us trying to change this reality by attempting to find solutions.?
IT points out that we do have a power derived from God and that is about to change  our own  life.aww

the Reading explains  that"acceptance" does not mean submission to a degrading situation it simply  means accepting the facts of the situation and then deciding what we will do about it
Progress begins when we stop attempting to control the uncontrollable and when we go on to correct  what we have the right to control namely  ourselves
"The quote is a  very powerful thought:; "fighting " futility is just a waste of time Samantha either you do something or quit fretting.
.
HAVE A GREAT DAY

Good morning and thank you Betty for todays reading and your service.

Even when I think I have finally finally accepted and embraced Step One, I will brought back to it again and again. I will catch myself trying to subtly manipulate a situation and/or behavior in my A.  I will inwardly rail and rant....I will believe lies, I think what I have said has made a difference.  Nope - I end up back at Step One....accepting the disease and current situation.

The good news is that I head back much faster these days. Head back to taking care of me and handing AH over to HP.  Once again, I am so grateful to Alanon and to this MIP family.

Happy Tuesday!  A meeting at noon and then out to dinner tonight with my best friend. Life is good.

Ellen

Good morning MIP! And thank you to Betty for your service

Step one is one I keep returning to as well. for my loved one, alcoholism is co-occurring with other mental health concerns, and so I find myself reflecting almost daily on step 1, what is harmful manipulation and control, what is managing the other mental health issues. Today, I'm thankful for the steps, especially the first one, to help me stay on MY course.

Good morning MIP! Thank you Betty for your service and the daily. Thank you Betty and Ellen for your shares & ESH. While I understand and accept that alcoholism is a disease, I still at times forget and also 'fight' again. I love that we are all about progress vs. perfection, so when I feel that 'fight' rising up, I can pause, pray and then proceed - hopefully in a better direction focused on me, my recovery and what I can change.

I am grateful always for the many tools we are given to change course while working on recovery. I feel as if my acceptance has come and continues to come in stages as more is revealed. I first accepted I was powerless by accepting this is a disease. I then expanded my powerlessness to include ALL people, places and things. Keeping my life as simple as possible helps me stay on my side of the street!

Ellen - enjoy your meeting and 'date'!

Today is my son's birthday and we are celebrating Sunday with a big brunch as we are all so busy. I am golfing this afternoon, and doing some chores this morning. I so agree - Life is good!

Make it a great day MIP family...we deserve it!

Thank you Betty for your service and all above helpful shares. Ah yes, step 1- a place I must visit often. And today I will practice acceptance of the situation and having realistic expectations, Lyne
