An Interesting Observation About Me Today

It is so Spring-like her today in SoCAL, I just had to do a little tyding up around the house. In doing so, I FINALLY hung some of the art & wall decor I brought over from my previous life (slightly more than 1 year ago)... things that were important to me at the time, and still speak to me - either with color, or subject matter, or words. I posted earlier about a small sign I found at a thrift store  that was added to the "Me Wall" too. Let me share with you the various sayings these decor pieces say, and see if you realized the same thing I did... remember, all of them (except the last one) came from my former home/life with my addicted SO.

Soothe

Calm

Serene

Tranquility

Harmony

Beach... just another day in Paradise

Live, Love, Laugh... by the beach

By the sea all worries wash away

Find your peaceful place

Plant a garden & believe in tomorrow

Gardening... cheaper than therapy and you get a Bouquet!

Dream

Believe

Become a Possibiltarian

Life's a Beach

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass... it's about learning how to Dance in the rain!

And finally,

She Believed She Could and She Did

Do you all see it? I was surrounding myself with the things I wanted most in my life (but obviously wasn't getting)!!!

It is really odd to look at my wall today, realizing that these things were all around me in my other home, yet I never really saw the connection between all of them - yes, probably because they were spaced out in a large home & now are grouped due to living in a one-bedroom, but also perhaps because I was too closed off to really SEE them!! I purchased these things, and lovingly hung them because my SOUL was crying out & as usual I never listened to ME - I was always focused on my ASO!!

My mind is slightly blown by this revelation today!

Wishing you all Peace & Love!

PNP, I love seeing your list of "writings on the wall" that express what you want for yourself. So glad you had a revelation about them that brings new insight.

I have to admit, I also have some decor items with meaningful words on them.   I am glad to see I am not alone in my taste in home decor.

Here are the words I have displayed in various places in my home:

  • One Day At A Time
  • Every Little Thing's Gonna Be Alright
  • Good Things Are Going to Happen
  • Don't Quit Before the Miracle Happens

And I have a shelf of Al-Anon and recovery related books.  That's my true confession for today.

Just a brotherly suggestion from a brother on the Big Island of Hawaii...  Find a place on the wall for this one also...  BELIEVE!!

You can make it as big as you want and put it in an easy to see spot.   ((((hugs)))) aww

Freetime... I particularly love the "Every Little Thing's Gonna Be Alright."

I actually have that song by Bob Marley ("Three Little Birds") frequently running in my head when I am having a good day - it just seems to pop up! I think they call that an "earworm"... but I love it!

I am going to add this to my wall... if I can't find one, I'll create one!

PnP. My dear little fellow traveler. The statement above really jumps out at me. I find myself still fighting and resisting life however, of late, I find myself setting a boundary as to how long I am going to struggle with a situation before I just walk away and either do something different or come back and try again. Lately, Ive been having the stupid Niggling little stupid things Happen to me of late. Those vexing stupid things that life has seemingly been sending me of late. I have decided to just throw them back if I cannot do anything about them. I will give it a reasonable effort, but of late, Ive noticed that when my efforts are not working, I just throw the stupid problem back. It seems to cut down on my stress levels quite a bit LOL. Life is going to come at me No matter what I do but I can choose whether I let it stress me out and cause me to obsess, or I can just walk away. Toss it off me if my efforts to fix it are not working. I call it shifting gears. If one year does not work, throw in the clutch and shift to another year. Thank you for your wonderful share. I enjoyed reading this

P&P-What a wonderful share and I certainly can relate! One of my signs in my new home is FREEDOM. It dawned on me one day, once well into program, that I felt free! Free from all the anguish of the past. It inspires me every time I see my sign. And it was in my control, but it took program for me to see it. Positive shares inspire me also. Thanks, Lyne

Rose - you are so right! Life will come at you no matter what... sometimes gently... but sometimes with a fury! It is our job to learn how to Ride It Out. I like what you shared about "Shifting Gears." It does remind me of me... but not always in a good way. If something wasn't working, I would shift gears to another tactic - all to get the result I want. Great tactic in business, not so much with living with addiction!!! However, you use this tactic in the best way possible... you "shift gears" and throw the problem back! Brilliant!

Lyne - I completely "get" you! I too felt a freedom like never before! As with you, it has taken me working my program to understand and SEE me.

I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday... I am taking my Boxer babe for a "wheel" and then cleaning my fish tanks and then, THEN, relaxing!
Peace to ya!

I love this PnP, thank you so much for sharing those wonderful words, they are beautiful. I love the realisation that you had gathered together the things that you wanted for yourself without even realising it - and now you see you!! Yay!!! It just makes me want to celebrate and dance (whatever the weather ! By the way, do you live near the sea?

For years I had these words pinned to my wall "what would you do today if you knew you couldn't fail?" and recently I've been noticing that I'm forgetting to check in with myself - acting in reaction to things rather more than I would like so I'm going to route out a few good words and spread them around the place. Thank you for the inspiration and reminder.

And thank you Rose for the image of shifting gears... I'm going to take that out for a spin me-thinks!

PS . My gardening currently brings me cauliflowers - I think that counts!

PnP - your wall sounds fantastic.....I am one who believes more is revealed when we are ready for it or in need! I believe a power greater than self helped you take all those sayings/wall mounts, and gave you awareness of who you are, what you are and how you're getting there!

I have the Serenity Prayer in multiple places in my home. Wall, plate, platter, etc. I keep my 'chip(s)' in my pocket or on my desk tray. I have two decorative bins with literature on each side of my bed, and a backpack with more literature in my sitting room. I have multiple bracelets that I wear often - Serenity Prayer on one, Perfectly Imperfect on another, Be Bold on yet another and Hello Beautiful on another. I have a Serenity Prayer key chain too...all of my cherished items were collected here/there over the years.

Someone told me early on to surround myself with what makes me happy....I guess I do so as best I know how! (((Hugs))) - sounds like you do too!

PnP, I loved your share.  Funny how things can be RIGHT THERE, but we cant see them until its time!  I love little epiphanies and how powerful they are. Great words and phrases that we can all relate to for sure!

Hugs,

Ellen

Milkwood, I live about an hour from the ocean... too far away for my liking! LOL! I absolutely LOVE cauliflower!

IAH - I really like the thought of your bracelets...I especially like the Perfectly Imperfect! I may have to find one of those!

El - I agree... it is funny how things can be right there, but unseen.

Hey PnP....you are so right!!! Something good can be "in my face" and i wont' see it until my heart is ready...I guess that is why i must focus on being honest, yes, willing, for sure, and OPEN for all the new opportunities and good that is trying to "get to me" if I just quit struggling and relax and be OPEN......HUGS

Rose - it reminds me about this program's promise of quieting the chaos and "noise" so that we can hear our inner selves speaking!
