Courage to Change December 5

In today's reading, the author reflects on recognizing the love that exists in their life.

The author shares that they used to believe that there was one person out there who would understand their every mood, always have time for them, and bring a smile to their face. Until this person appeared, the author was forced to wait, sad and lonely.

The word "gratitude" changed things for the author. The author started to reflect on things they had to be grateful for and the love that they did have in their life that they had been ignoring.

Today's reminder: If I can't recognize the love that already exists in my life, would I really appreciate receiving more? Let me acknowledge what has already been given to me.

Today's Quote: "If the only prayer you said your whole life was "thank you", that would suffice." Meister Eckhart

-----------------------

Gratitude lists are important for me, and appreciating the beauty and love around me also. I have found that when I open myself up to new experiences, I am more able to recognize and see beauty and love around me. Isolation was a problem I faced before AlAnon, and I'm thankful today to have so many wonderful people in my life.

Thank you Skorpi for the daily. This is a lovely reading for the day and I too have learned the importance of seeing the glass half full instead of half empty. I used to be focused on all the depressing and negative things in my life. I have come a long way since then, especially thanks to program. The reminder is so important and makes good sense. Lyne

Thank you Skorpi for your service, and your thoughts on this subject. I really liked your share, Lyne, b/c I see myself in your words.

Whenever I am down, I remind myself to write my Gratitude List. Some things to be thankful for are so small they can get overlooked... but when they are staring back at you from a piece of paper? Powerful.

It is raining here today. Fits my mood as I found out someone too young, but suffering from Alzheimer's died yesterday. If you are so inclined, please send out prayers for this person's family.
Thank you!

thank you Skorpi:
My #1 BFF and first cousin and I had a chat about this very topic last week...HER oldest daughter and my oldest daughter both kicked us to the curb for reasons unbeknownst to us..We grieve..We are sad..We didn't deserve this

BUT..I reminded her that we have other children who DO love us...She has a son and daughter and I have my younger daughter...I told my cousin dear that why waste energy on those who love us not?? and be grateful for and spend our energy on those who love us..be they a child of ours or a friend or a sister, cousin, etc...lets be thankful for the loving children we have...Her youngest...a daughter calls me her 2nd Mom...I am gr8ful for this young lady's love for me..and I do give thanks for it...she has less of my DNA, but that does not matter..she is a lovely soul and is friends wtih my younger daughter whom I say "thank you" for every day

Crosby , Stills and Nash had a song..."Love the one you'r with--Love the one you'r with" I sang that song to my cousin and she says "so THAT is why you are handling this better than me....I'm gonna practice gratitude for and *love the ones I am with"..."

so true...let go the ones who love me not!!!! And I shall "love the ones I'm with"....
