Keep It Simple

Make it a point to do something every day that you dont want to do---Mark Twain

Self-discipline

In this daily, author talks about self discipline as key to being emotionally sober..Regular meetings, when its not convenient...working the steps when we would rather watch videos...Doing this we get a good return...we learn to trust OURSELVES...we learn to do what is most loving and caring for US

Our illness showed us we couldn't count on ourselves..We didn't know which turn to take, what to do next..Self discipline heals that part of us that causes us to not be able to trust..and If we cannot trust ourselves, and love ourselves, how can we learn to love and trust others???

Action for the Day: I will list areas of my program where I lack self-discipline. I will share the list with my group and sponsor, and Ill let them know in a month how Im doing.

********************************

All of you have seen me struggle with that "T" word...TRUST and a lot of it was my life being so "unpredictable" within me..I didn't trust ME, well..that is slowly changing....I daily workout...I eat clean/healthy/simple foods (most of the time--Fri is my reese's butter cups day)  but for the most part, I say "no" to my penchant for the junk food...I do my workouts...I take the time, even if a good movie that I downloaded tempts me,  "hey Rosie, you know you gotta do the breathing and meditations"  and when I get into it, I learn, that  "yea, I'm gonna take care of me"  Love and trust begin with me...I cannot love and trust SAFE others until I have the love and trust in myself.....discipline shows me I can re-parent me and be the parent that I didn't have as a child...

Great Reminder Rose "Keeping it simple" and doing what I am not comfortable doing, provided tremendous rewards for me early on so that "doing the next right thing became my go to actions"
Thanks for your service

Thank you Rose and Betty. Keep it Simple is a wonderful slogan that I think of often. When my mind gets bogged down with useless information, that crowds my peace of mind and and interferes with serenity, this slogan along with others, help re-center myself.

I can trust myself most of the time, but it's trusting others that is still difficult. My A wants me to trust her but she doesn't show me consistent , trustworthy behaviors. It's a real catch 22.

But with Alanon I continue along my path of healing, focusing on me instead of others, and one of my favorite slogans, progress not perfection gives me permission to be human ODAT, Lyne

Thank you Rose, for your service!

I am trusting myself more and more... yes, I am still distrustful of others. But 'Keeping it Simple,' living 'One Day at a Time,' and lately 'Doing the Next Right Thing,' have become invaluable to me!

I love that you are a Reeses girl!!! I love them too!! I think it may be the only candy I have a hard time passing up! Tee hee!!

I love Keep It Simple. Love it, love it, love it. Most people don't do it, don't love it, don't live it, can't live it, LOL.

Keep it Simple sound so inviting to a lazy guy and lazy use to be a practice for me.  I started my recovery being lazy while the fellowship was showing me how to "work it as it was intended".  I got sicker and stayed sick until HP and the fellowship gave me a taste of what recovery really was like and increased my desire to have more.   Thanks all for your encouragement and ESH.   ((((HUGS))))aww
